Bucky talks Cam and our offensive evolution

top dawg

See this is what I don't understand about the Shula gripes, half would agree Cam's ankle was bothering him after the Vikes game, but in another thread complain about not enough bootlegs being called ???

I think the real problem is a mixture of all three(Dorsey, Cam, Shula) with majority being on Dorsey. Since Shula's in the skybox I'm assuming Dorsey is the guys who suppose to tell cam about missed receivers, coverages, mismatches, situational football, ect

Sure Bucky.. let's talk about preserving his health by having him function differently in a revamped offense, while totally ignoring the fact that he got hammered illegally all last year and the refs allowed it. Want a broom to sweep all that under the rug?

I do agree we should running more two TE sets, 3-step drops, etc. I've never been a big fan of the read-option, due its ability to get demolished by smart, fast defenses so easily, but the biggest thing hurting Cam recently has been the lack of protection a lot of other QB's in the league get. He rolls out: Launched helmet under his chin; He stays in the pocket: They try to take out his knees. Funny how Ryan and Palmer got those same calls this year, while Cam got zero, hmm?

How about, let's have the NFL protect him like every other QB out there seems to get protected, then we can discuss a new game plan for Cam, okay?

LOL! Yeah, that's gotta really suck from the perspective of an Auburn fan.

In the SEC Forum I participate in...

Me 2015:  "Cam MVP!"

Bama Fan 2015:  "Yeah, took a BAMA MAN to make Cam an MVP!"

Me 2016: "Holy poo, Shula sucks!"  (To be fair to myself, I've always said this, not just last year.)

Bama Fan 2016: "ITS NOT SHULA MAKIN' S/CAM THROW ALL THOSE INTERCEPTIONS!"

Cam is deadly accurate and dominant when he isn't sitting around waiting on the play call and then having to snap the ball without surveying the defense to avoid delay of game penalties. Offense won't evolve with Conservative Ron and the Shula.

Cam performs best at speed.  That's what made him a Heisman Trophy winner and National Champion at Auburn.  Anybody with eyes can see that that's when he's most effective when Carolina goes hurry-up.

But that's just too hard for the creaky gears in Mike Shula's brain to move that fast for a 60 minute period.

I don't think it's just Mike Shula tho, I think it's Ron being a defensive guy. Ron wants to score but he'd rather the scoring came with lots of time off the clock. We've seen them open games in the hurry up and march right down the field to score. Then they get away from it and struggle to move the chains.

Might wanna remind them that they fired Shula. When you fire a guy, you lose all rights to claiming him. I think that's in the fine print somewhere.

Oh, no doubt.

I'm the one that always says don't be 100% pissed at Shula, he's only doing exactly what his 1970's philosophy head coach wants him to do.

Yeah, but considering the heartless killing machine they hired to replace him, I just can't blame them for dumping Shula.  :P

P.S. Plus you are reasoning that Bama fans are rational human beings.  Bad mistake!
