True, but most SEC teams didn't have good QB play this year. those stats don't explain inconsistency just overall lowered production.

I'll give you that bama game though, a team that good that can make you one dimensional isn't a good example.

There is not having good play, then there is the ultimate suck that has been trotted out by LSU. Plus an injured ankle against WISCONSIN, re-injured it against AU late. Only game he was close to healthy was Ole Miss. And he was a beast. To be fair, OM is just awful on run defense. But that was the game he ran 23 mph. So dismiss the gaudy stats, and forget 40 times. That was my takeaway. After bama abused him, I honestly believe he was beat up and fed up and didn't want to risk injury. Don't really blame him. But that is another discussion for another time.

As an Auburn fan, you should recognize poor QB play the past 2 years.

Hasn't stopped us from having good RBs with good production.  And none of ours is a Leonard Fournette.

Really. How well did we run the ball, against decent defenses with Jeremy Johnson/JFIII at QB? Or an injured Sean White(GA)? Because Sean White is plenty solid enough at QB to provide protection for any RB. He was leading the SEC in QB rating, and we were setting records. Then he got hurt against Ole Miss late, and boom, entire offense is done. I mean done.

Let's discuss our production against GA, both years. Or bama both years. What was the common denominator in those games?  Funny how are All SEC RBs go missing when the defense knows you can't complete a pass past 5 yards.

Thanks for reading between the lines and not what I wrote.
I should have said, I am against trading up, i.e. trading two 2nds for a late first.

"This draft is deep" could be a justification for trading up to...

Say we move 1.8 and 2.8 To Jax to grab Fournette.... get back 4.4 (works out on the value chart)

Leaves us with
Fournette
2.32
3 comp
4.4
4.8

Since the draft is deep... Still plenty of talent available with the day 2/3 picks. Still room to trade....

Just saying... get your guy where you can.

A trade up to 1.4 does not upset me... especially if 4.4 comes with it.

My question is whether we're sold enough on him to trade up with Jacksonville to ensure we get him. What would that take? I'd offer them our late 2nd rounder that we got from the Pats, take it or leave it. No way they trade down just for our 3rd round comp. pick and no way Gettleman gives up our original 2nd rounder.

I maintain that the best case scenario for the Panthers is for at least 1 QB to go in the top-6, either to the 49ers or Jets. Jacksonville could opt for Solomon Thomas or Jonathan Allen over Fournette, but not likely anyone else other than Garrett, who is going 1st overall without a doubt. Would also be helpful for the Titans to go safety over corner, leaving the Jets with the option to take Lattimore.

1. CLE: Myles Garrett
2. SF: Mitchell Trubisky
3. CHI: Jonathan Allen
4. JAX: Solomon Thomas
5. TEN: Malik Hooker
6. NYJ: Marshon Lattimore
7. SD: Jamal Adams
8. CAR: Leonard Fournette

Ha. USA Today is quoting Igo as a source.

http://pantherswire.usatoday.com/2017/03/27/report-panthers-are-100-sold-on-lsu-rb-prospect-leonard-fournette/

"Who the Carolina Panthers will select with their No. 8 overall pick in next month’s NFL draft is a hot topic of discussion. The latest chatter has mostly centered around two players: Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas and Alabama tight end O.J. Howard.

However, it sounds like Carolina may have its heart set on somebody else entirely.

According to a report by Jeremi Igo at Carolina Huddle, the Panthers are “100 percent” sold on LSU running back prospect Leonard Fournette:"

Christ...

Are we really influencing the "real world" here?

Might wanna check the numbers and see how Fournette did against Bama too.

That is the entire point. No RB is superhuman. You brought up AU, and their RB production as a case against my point that "when a good-great DEF knows you can't throw, it's very rare that you will run the ball well" Any player. Any team. I simply showed that when AU didn't have a capable option at QB, their production fell off a cliff. With everything I posted, you go back to a statement that not one person has disputed. Who ever stated that LF had good numbers against bama?

Fournette has been bred as the best runningback since Adrian Peterson far often this draft season. His unbelievable power and finesse in his run game makes him one of the best downhill runners the game has seen in a while. Even though he's questionable with his ability from the shotgun, he still could impact any team he goes on in a positive way, and even I believe the Panthers would know what they're doing if they pick such a runningback.
Well, our very own Igo revealed some nice information on twitter today. Apparently, the Panthers are sold on Fournette. Will be the pick if he's available.

Take this what you will.
