"'Fournette was clocked on their GPS system at 22.9 mph in one game—fastest of anyone on a very fast team. For context, anything over 21 mph is considered very fast.'
"That's mind-numbingly fast for a player as big as Fournette.
"The NFL began inserting GPS trackers inside every player's shoulder pads prior to the 2015 season. The trackers collect data on velocity, distance traveled and proximity to opposing players. Ever since the introduction of this technology, STACK's been keeping an eye out for impressive numbers. Dating back to to the start of the 2015 season, only one NFL ballcarrier has ever clocked a speed faster than Fournette's 22.90 mph. Tyreek Hill of the Kansas City Chiefs was clocked at 23.24 mph during a play last season. But other than Hill, no one's run faster than Fournette. Not DeSean Jackson. Not Brandin Cooks. Not Tedd Ginn Jr."
And that's why it's not all about the 40. Game speed means a lot. Also, a football field is 100 yards.

Yea, that was it.

I just get visions of him hitting the 2nd level, linebackers in his wake, and a safety having to make a business decision.

People keep getting hung up on the 40 and it's like they haven't watched him play. The dude is fast, his top gear is absolutely amazing and he just consistently runs away from people. It's truly terrifying to think about when you consider how big he is. I really hope we draft him but I don't see him making it to 8, he is just too talented a prospect.

Speed has never been the issue with Fournette.  He's plenty fast - I don't care what his 40 time is.

It's elusiveness and agility that are the question marks.

For what it's worth, he looked more agile - and broke more tackles - in 2015, when he wasn't dealing with an ankle injury.  Figuring out whether that ankle is going to be an ongoing problem is pretty key for any team considering drafting him in the top 10.

The Panthers have been searching for a STUD rb and they most recently fell in love with Gurley. I'd bet my new sweat pant shorts they like Fournette the same if not more. He fits what the Panthers want to do.

And he is a hog molly for his position

I think his elusiveness is about on par with most high level power runners.  He obviously doesn't have the shiftiness of guys like McCaffrey, but he is quite capable of bouncing it outside for big runs (mainly using his vision and speed).  My only concern with that is how will age and the constant pounding effect this ability down the road.  He does take a lot of pounding.

I think when healthy Fournette has very good agility. He makes really subtle cuts and direction changes while maintaining his speed which is really important for a running back. Now is he Barry Sanders? No, but his agility is closer to elite than it is to bad.

I would honestly trade up if the price is right. fug it. This our year and I'm all on board to go 100% balls to the wall

But to do that we would have to give up our high 2nd, and we should still be able to get a high level player and future/immediate starter there.  Now if we did trade up, I could see packaging our high 2nd with out late 2nd to move into the 1st if someone we really like drops.

I'm a big Fournette fan, but I don't think he worth 2 high level starters, so I prefer to let things play out at #8.
