Not on Kuechly's level coming out of college, but he's okay. Doesn't have the reaction or instincts on that level, and tends to let the front four do most of the work.

Well, I heard he may be a little better than Kuechly against the run, while Kuechly's better in coverage (not that I said he was on Kuechly's level). Luke is a pro-bowl player who will be HOF bound as long as his career isn't thwarted by concussions.

Irrespective of Luke, Foster is worthy of a top 10 pick in my book, and I'm sticking to it.

Foster does nothing as well as Luke. He smaller, slower, and his football instincts suck. Coverage is subpar at best. Not too mention he's already had concussions because he tackles with his head down. Add that he's dumb as a rock, and is barely stable on his best day, and taking him top 10 is a huge reach for any team. Watched every snap he ever played and he isn't close to even CJ Mosley good. He hits hard, that's about it. He's more similar to Shaq than anyone else. You put him in the middle of a DEF, you better hope no OL get near him or he's a non factor.

The dude won the Butkus Award. That's a feat unto itself. As far as him being "dumb as a rock," I think you're being harsh and failing to appreciate the fact that some people just learn differently. What did Saban say about Foster?

"If you put on the film he'll be able to tell you chapter and verse because that's how he learned it."

Saban also says he'd like to see Foster in a good network where he can learn and be mentored.

As for Luke, I wasn't the one making the comparison. The kid won the award by himself.

Man, I keep correcting this. It's 5 in 115 not 4 top 100. Everyone's just ignoring the stud perennial all-pro we're getting at 115.

Also, 3 in top 64. 40 is our 2nd pick.

Thanks for the correction.  I was honestly just too lazy to look up where the 4th rounder fell.  But I 100% agree, we should be able to find a quality contributor at #115.

No excuse for "3 in the top 40", that obviously should have been "top 64".

An award? Really? You're better than that. Do Aaron Curry, Rolondo McClain, and Manti Teo ring a bell? Saban said those things as a pre-emptive strike for when Foster bombs the Wonderlic and teams whiteboards. Why else would he make the "learn differently" comment?  And do you think Saban is going to say anything bad about him? He's protecting his brand. With the success, or lack there of, of many bama prospects, how much stock do you put in anything he says? Saban said many of the same things about Rolondo McClain. He was a criminal before bama, at bama, and as we saw, long after bama. He went to HS 20 miles from me. Had to wear a tracking anklet in HS. Everyone knew what he was. But he was playing well at bama that's all that matters. With all due respect, don't believe everything you read. Even take this FWIW. But I can promise you I have followed him closely since his JR year in HS.

So you pull three guys off of a list and try and insinuate that because they bombed that Foster is going to bomb. Come on, man. So, I guess he isn't a first rounder in your mind at all I'm guessing from your tone.

Perhaps Saban said it because it's true. Some people really do learn differently.

No. I gave details of exactly what I didn't like about him. His on field play, his IQ(on and off field), and his character concerns.

You brought an award as a rebuttal. I simply showed that winning an award means little towards pro potential. And how any Saban(or any coaches) comments should be taken with a grain of salt.

That's great, but what it also seems like you're doing is ignoring solid production. The production didn't just happen, it happened because Foster worked his tail off and put in the work.

So did every other player who won that award( or any award or AA team or ALL-Conf. Team). It means very little towards pro success. Too many variables go into "production" at the college level. Surrounding talent, scheme, level of competition. And most awards are voted on by primarily writers who watch maybe 2 games a weekend, because they are at their teams game. Or coaches(or SIDS) who only watch film on opponents.

So, just go on record and say that you don't think he's going to be any good. I've already said what I think. He's going to be a good pro once it's all said and done.

I would hope that my comments already would have conveyed that. He's going to have to be a consistent Pro Bowler for him to be worth a top 10 pick. I see an average starter, if he can stay out of trouble. I'd take him in early 3rd. Not by us, just in general.
