Curtis Samuel - a poor mans Mcaffery

I don't see the comparison of these 2 at all. Both are quick? Samuel's speed is world class. Mr. Mcaffery is just slightly about NFL standard speed for the HB position. I guess they both can play wideout and running back but neither should be a poor man's version of the other.

Actually McCaffrey was faster in every drill except for the one in which you run a straight line.  Also had a better vert and broad jump.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Samuel and have mentioned him before but I think McCaffrey might be a better athlete than some on here think.

Even in the 40 I would say 4.48 is above average for NFL running backs.  I'm not talking about pro day times, but instead electronically timed at the combine.

I think he was fourth fastest at this years combine.  If you look at past combines you will see the same thing.

McCaffery is significantly quicker in the other agility drills plus edges him out in vertical and broad jumps. He's more explosive and been more productive. The analysis on NFL prospect page says Samuel is stiff and that is made evident by not being as quick in the drills that matter.

Ok, people see what they want to see

I am actually a Samuel fan, and was talking about him way before most around here, but I would disagree he is "way" more explosive.

In a straight line he is definately faster but from a quickness standpoint not so much. McCaffrey was faster in every metric at the combine except for the 40.  His quickness numbers were actually elite and  that shows up on the he film also.

Maybe Samuel has the more impressive highlight video on YouTube.

Samuel, ArDarius Stewart and Taywan Taylor are three slot types that could be productive in this offense.  I'd be game but not at the top of the 2nd with the potential talent available.

Silly post..oh wait that was me, sh*t.

@GoobyPls absolutely hates McCaffrey. I'm convinced.

I know this thread was weeks ago, but damn, saying that Samuel is more explosive than McCaffrey is just not true. The only place where Samuel is clearly superior to McCaffrey is with pure speed. Once he gets into space, he's gone. McCaffrey has more juke and joystick moves in almost every other way.

Glad that we have both, and now if we can just get them to reach their potential, we will have a dynamic duo indeed.
