Is it OK if I think Voth is a piss-ant because he went into full little media bitch mode after Cam had an utterly human reaction at his post-Super Bowl press conference?

Feel however you like.

I for one didn't agree with his take but I for sure know it wasn't out of some agenda he has against Cam unlike others in the media, and I'm not going to hold a grudge because of one polarizing incident.

Of course he would be here for sure this season - the option that will be picked up is for 2018.

I agree. I'm still completely on Team KB. I think he deserves some criticism for some bad plays last year, but he should definitely get the benefit of the doubt. Last season sucked all-around. I think KB will be fine.

On another note...I was just skimming through some pics from last year's away games. I'm starting to get the itch to get back out there. It's going to be a long summer waiting for football.

Should have clarified a bit. I know obviously it's for 2018 but in the event we didn't pick up the option and didn't try to negotiate a long term deal that would have had big ramifications for this upcoming season. You either let him play this final season with the awkwardness of the situation which would be a distraction for the team, or you trade him. So this 5th year option seemed to be all but a total lock.

As for the rest, I completely agree. I like what we have going so far with our locker room though, familiar faces, good chemistry, reminds me of 2015. If we nail the draft, sky is the limit.

This doesn't surprise me.

$8M isn't a MAJOR investment these days for a football team.  It would put him above Robert Woods, but less than Kenny Britt (and Britt is #20 in the top 20).

I have not been overly impressed with KB as yet in his young career, performance or work ethic.  But he did flash as a rookie, so the extra year at $8M is worth the minimal risk.

What is it about KB that this gets thrown out there. This is like the 4th time today I have seen someone question his work ethic. Where is this coming from? Because, with the leadership on this team. I don't see how you could get away with slacking.

Where is this question you're referring to? I think you're reading way too much into it.

"If picked up"? That's all it took. See how many fans went ballistic on this issue. Like it or not, he put something out there that wasn't considered a decision at all. Would have been nice to give some information about the option if he's going to put it out there. Look at the reactions just here, and around twitter( also reported on here that twitter verse was whining about picking it up). Maybe he didn't realize it, but he left it out there and ignorance took over. Current state of media. Say very little and watch what happens. Just ask GMan the question in 2 hours and report the facts. How hard is that.

I'm sure he's learned his lesson not to have a conversation with our fan base because of the way this way blown out of context. He didn't ask a question. He didn't imply anything. However, the same fans that only read headlines and then share posts on Facebook (without reading the article) decided to make all kinds of accusations and assumptions about this. So yeah....Bill should be more clear because we aren't very smart.

Edit: FYI...."if picked up" is not a question it's a statement. Should he have just assumed instead?

Why make any statement before you ask? Just ask the question and report. What's the point of bringing up something that wasn't even debatable? It was for attention. And he got it. The reactions are all the proof you need.

The uninformed went nuts and into witch hunt mode. The informed were pissed because it was a no-brained decision that wasn't worth bringing up until answered.

I'm not sure which category I fall into then. I didn't know May was the option date (uninformed category?), but I did think picking it up was a no-brainer, at least to me (informed category?). I was also interested and happy to hear that that question was going to be asked today and looked forward to hearing GMan's answer (back to uninformed category?). Yet even though I was interested I only spent about 2.5 minutes on this topic and moved on until I came here and saw that it had become "a thing" (not sure where this would put me- maybe confused category or possibly annoyed category). I just ranted on my personal FB page yesterday how tired I am of our fans lacking the ability to critically think about what they're reading. So this happening today was pretty much par for the course these days.

One thing I do know about Bill is that he doesn't seek "attention" or go after click-bait (at least intentionally) headlines. Bill reports what's going on, why it's going on, and then let's us make up our minds how to feel about it. Rarely does he inject his opinion to spark an emotional response. I didn't see a big deal in it. I'm more worried about the people who lost control over it. They scare me and make our fan base look like idiots.

Edit: but to simply answer your question....because we should be smart enough to handle it.

Unfortunately anyone who has spent more than a few minutes on social media reading Panthers fans remarks knows it's a shitshow most of the time. You think the huddle gets rough occasionally? Some of our fans on social media make even the most questionable huddlers here look like Rhodes Scholars.

Bro....it's really painful. Honestly it's scary. I can't even read them anymore. Wish it was just limited to sports posts though.

Check this out though.....IMG_0779.thumb.JPG.7e5a5b70d8eaa3a4a26f94eda4825a04.JPGCheers

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
