You mean cuz Stew wasn't going anywhere, right?

I mean whether for one or 2 years his presence in the later portion of his career doesn't prevent taking a rb in the top rounds.

Curious to see what we do to justify this move. I hate the idea of pushing guaranteed money into a future year for a 30 year old injury prone RB when we were about to be off the hook after this season. Gotta be something in the works that we needed a bit more space this year.

I think we are sill looking for some in-house long term extensions.

Don't think you will see much, if any, guaranteed money tied to next year. It was a 1.5M cap hit to cut him next year before. Don't expect much more than that. Stew has no leverage. He had to take some sort of cut.

I hope so.

Stew's leverage is that CAP would be our starting RB without him.

That's not leverage when a team can save 6.25M in cap space by letting you go. Stew did this because he had no choice. He didn't give up money out of the goodness of his heart. This is exactly what I said would happen and was railed on by people who actually argued he was worth his 8.25M cap hit. Which is still ridiculous.

NFLPA had us a 11.1 million yesterday. Now we are at 13.8 in cap space. So this moved saved us 2.7 for this year. That's all I got for now. Need more details on the future cap implications before passing any judgment.

Either way congrats to Stewart on his new born daughter and increased job security.

Victor Cruz, come on down! You're the next contestant on Dave's Got Some Dollars!

I hope you're right. We'll see what the details look like.
