Solomon Thomas is a stud but you know I prefer offensive player with the 1st

I feel we can still get offensive value in the later rounds, but defensive ends with a solid impact this year seem like a round 1 thing.

I'm curious as to whether or not we use it because Cam's uncomfortable under center.

There's a reason Cam only had 9.2% snaps under center, and usually from play-action. I don't know if it's not his strong suit, or if Shula's stupid. If Cam can play under center fine, then that'd make me a lot more comfortable about a lot of things.

I'm 90% percent sure it's a band-aid for the OL. Shotgun gives him a headstart when they collapse. I doubt he has any problems throwing under center.

Looks like Cam looks pretty good behind center, as well.  AKA Fournette>McCaffrey and it's not close.

On a side note, have you seen that quick toss that LSU runs for Fournette? That has to be one of my favorite runs and I'd love to see it implemented into the Panthers playbook.

Keep in mind the $$ factor that goes into what you get for your first round pick.  You get essentially a 5-year rookie deal that does't break the bank, especially when you're talking about high price positions (LT, DE & QB).  McCaffrey is a utility player that can do a lot, but he is not a guy that your offense runs through that you blow a first round pick on.  I'm sure he'll go first round, but bank on it that DG is not giving up that 5-year rookie deal on a "complementary" style RB.  Fournette being an every down work horse is the only RB that DG will use that first round pick on.  Given that DE is a very high priced position at an elite level, and that we need DE depth, Thomas is surely the guy he is after.

I have always heard that Cam prefers the shotgun because it helps him see the defenses better. If I am not mistaken he pretty much ran everything out of shotgun at Auburn so it makes sense.

When he first came into the league, the Panthers seemed to try him under center more but move to almost all shotgun as you notated.

While this is just a few plays, it looks like a lot of plays against the blitz, they just accept the LT would get horribly beat and had a hot dump route, and the plays worked.  I know, duh right?  It could be we stunk so bad on offense because more often than not, we couldn't beat the blitz, and it messed with our offense.  Again duh.

To me, this makes it look like we need a way to hold off on that blitz and someone with more speed to hit those screens.  I'm not totally sure now that Shula is truly deserving of all the blame here.  Some, yes, but not all.

I feel opposite about it of course lol.

The defensive side of the ball is loaded with more talent and has if more evenly distributed at all 3 levels.

The offensive side is weak at multiple areas and is in dire need of elite talent to boost productivity by taking the load off already overused star players.

There is also good value for the defensive side of the ball in the mid-round as well.

TE/RB combo 1st-3rd round

DE/WR/S mid rounds

Not sure why you'd be so sure of that. Two of our top three DEs are stopgap players and the 3rd had been a situational pass rusher up until last season. I feel okay about our DE situation for this season but looking forward we don't really have a DE situation.

Because he is a DT. I would rather get a DE that can move inside. Than a DT, that may have trouble moving outside.

Looks like Thomas could be gone by our pick I would say they are more than likely looking at McCaffrey and if Thomas falls it might be the pick
