Fournette or OJ Howard?

Not sure if a topic like this has been created but two national mock drafts i read today have us taking Fournette in one and OJ Howard in the other in the first rd.  Both could be day 1 starters.

I think I would go with Howard and then draft a good RB in 2nd.  Thoughts?

This has been the biggest dilemma but I'm leaning more towards OJ Howard and grabbing McCaffrey.

But if we can grab OJ & Fournette that would be amazing!

Possible Scenario

OJ Howard / McCaffrey

Fournette / Leggett

Fournette / McCaffrey

Are you going to start a thread on why Fournette is not a rare talent? If you've got some information you want to get out there I think everyone would like to see it.

What I said was clearly my OPINION (please not the highlighted words and phrases):

And in a follow-up to my previous post, I will respond to this by saying I don't think Fournette is "rare" at all.

And, in support of my position, I will propose to ANYONE that watched any LSU games last year that Fournette wasn't even the best running back on his own team in 2016 (during the games that Fournette wasn't injured)... Derrius Guice was.

I was born and raised in SEC Country.  I went to an SEC school.  I watch most SEC games (at least those of the major SEC schools).  I've seen a few rare and special running backs (SEC and non-SEC) in my time (the top three IMO being Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Barry Sanders).  Those guys were "rare".  Fournette isn't even close to sniffing their category.

Fournette is in the same category of talent as Derrick Henry.  And Leveon Bell.  Both outstanding running backs, neither one "rare".

I think some people are letting the lingering memories of a hobbled Fournette cloud their memories.

Guice looks really good too, but he's not draft eligible.

I see it as similar to the Gurley/Chubb situation at UGA. Sometimes you just get fortunate and land two top notch studs back to back. It doesn't take anything away from either one as an NFL prospect.

And all that being said I've never said that Fournette isn't a damned good running back.

I've only stated 2 things (both are my *opinion*):

1. Fournette doesn't fit the style of offense we run which includes a LOT of option-handoffs.  (Yes, Ron may want to "evolve" the offense, but even if it "evolves" I still think the basic structure remains.  Which means Fournette would be receiving a large share of his hand-offs standing still next to Cam, which he's never been asked to do.)

2. He's not a "rare" talent.  He's a DAMNED GOOD talent.  The NFL is full of damned good talent.

Right so get the best TE in RD 1 and a damn good RB in RD 2!

Fournette ran for damn near as many yards in 2015 as his QB THREW for. I think it was only about a 200 yard difference. Everyone knew that guy was getting the ball and they still couldn't stop it. That's pretty special.

Kinda like Cam, I essentially give Fournette a pass for 2016 because it was clearly obvious he was nowhere close to 100% for much of it.

As an LSU fan, I've seen nearly all of Fournette's games and he is the real deal. He was the best running back on the team. It does not take a genius to run the read option running attack and most of the work is on the Qb. I wouldn't mind either but Fournette should be taken if he's available.

My pipedream is for us to trade next year's 1st and both 2's for us to get a Fournette and Howard combo. I think it would be worth it.
