Mel Kiper Mock 3.0: Fournette will be a Carolina Panther. Please let this happen.

Fournette if he's there would be hard to pass up.  I'm equally ecstatic with Fournette or Barnett, although the joy of the sunken hearts of the other 31 if we take Fournette would be glorious.

Barnett wouldn't be a value pick at that point.

@nctarheel0619 You're banking on a guy coming back from an injury who had one of the lowest missed tackle rates and worst shotgun rate in college to do well in a system where we run center on 9.2% of our snaps.

By all means, guess we can try that. Who'd be the one forced to change their technique and style of play to compensate? Cam or Fournette? One of them has to regress.

Newsflash, Cam regressed last year.  We need to take the workload off of him.  Point, blank, period.

How does Fournette help him at all to help bring out his strength if Fournette can't help from the shotgun where Cam is good at?

I think there are better RBs for our offense we can take to move the workload off of Cam.

I secretly hope Fournette does work out, because I love his running style personally, but I'm just real worried he has a high bust ratio in our offense.

I don't think playing out of shotgun is doing Cam or this offense any favors. I hope that is the change that we see.

I'd really like to draft a power back (any power back) and line up with Cam under center a lot more. Let defenses key on the run and then have Cam run some play action bootlegs for those deep routes we try to hit.

I even would argue Fournette is not the next AP. He's a damn good downhill runner, but not on AP's level.

He can't cut like AP at all. He will only thrive in the right scheme for him. I just don't see him as a Panther anymore when you consider our offense's strengths.

Fournette is the best RB prospect to come out in years. If he's there, we should take him, zero questions asked.

He doesn't.  They'll go more traditional with him.  That's what they want to do with Cam anyway.  Fournette with Cam will be a disgusting duo together.

People keep saying Leonard doesn't fit our system but I thought the whole point of the offense evolving this season was to get cam back under center in a traditional offense. I think adding fournette only helps and hurts if he is not there.  If we drafted fournette and still tried to use him in the current offense this staff is truly stupid.

Depends on the source, but he's gaining steam (not that he should have ever lost team) in the mock draft world.  He is as high as #2 overall this week and PFF has always had him in their top 10.

Fournette is perfect for our system don't let these keyboard scouts speak definitely.  Carolina has always been a power run team whether under center or in Shotgun.  Because the emphasis of Cam do everything with his arm and LEGS in years pass by incorporating a lot of Zone read options or RPO (Run-Pass-Options) that Shula brought to the offense we've seen Cam's dinks and bruises taking tolls.  Fournette would allow us to line up under center mano-y-mano and get back to our power running offense.  Not only does Fournette bring a great power run effect to our system, but it also adds self-life to our Quarterback who in 2015 ran 103 designed QB runs which topped the league.  Fournette will give a fierce duo in the back field for short yardage and goaline situations that now defenses can't purely focus on Cam.

if Fournette somehow is there at #8... its a no brainer really.

I'm not going bust out the pie charts and stats to pretend like I know everything or what's best for the team, but I think talent like Fournette would only help this team, never hinder it. You can list Cam's limitations or what works for him and this and that, but I feel Cam can thrive under center, as long as they can keep him clean, which hasn't been happening. I don't think having someone like a Cam can ever limit the offense. The offense can grow and evolve together instead of stay trapped in the past with what worked before seasons ago.

We may not utilize Fournette to his full potential at first, but talent like him forces evolution. If not, he can get better. Look at Le'veon Bell now. He was a big back, Michigan ran power I and draft heads slammed his poor vision and questioned his ability to contribute in passing game in the pros. Now look at him out of the shotgun or split out. A player like Fournette I can only see improving his game at the next level. I trust the guys like Mayock and what not when they say Carolina needs to get back to power and that Fournette is a perfect fit for what they want to do.

I'd be so sad if we don't take him if available. An opportunity to get a player like that doesn't come around every season for Carolina. I'd much rather we do that than take random rotational project and then fill in the Rb depth with zero upside perfect fit guys and have us derping on offense like a bunch of morons, never evolving, doing the exact same stuff as before.

I would love to see Fournette as the pick.  He is a dominant alpha RB.  Let's not kid ourselves-our biggest issues are all on offense.  We lack talent and speed at WR.  We lack a second pass catching TE.  We lack any depth at all at RB and our starter is hurt half the time.  We lack true depth at C, OG and until proven otherwise, we lack starters at OT.  We could definitely us a DE and SS, but if we went all offense in this draft, it still wouldn't be enough.
