Should the Panthers sign Kaep?

Do I think its every teams reason? Nope.

But I don't think the primary reason he remains unsigned with most teams is football reasons.

You have what 32 owners, most old rich white men. Mostly screwing conservative. That have made Kap an anti-american communist in their circle because he would not stand for the flag.

There's what, maybe 80 QB's on rosters in the league...

I'm not a big fan of Kaep, but he's better than probably 30 or 40 of them. If his expectations are to be paid like a starter, no way. But if he would accept backup money, then yes, political considerations aside, he should have a job.

Then that makes you no better than the people who oppose him because of who he is as a man. First and foremost thank you for your service, but did you not fight for his freedom to express himself amongst many other freedoms? If not that just makes you a hit man for hire.

If you actually went to war and served then you wouldn't say such things. There is a right way and a wrong way to protest. Disrespecting the unity displayed by standing for a national anthem or burning flags is a desecration of every single man and woman who gave this country to you.

Pick a different way to protest in a different way.

Ok I saw the article as inevitable. But I figured it'd come from a foaming mouth fan and not Florio. Anyways, the thread was inevitable:

"The Panthers actually could agree on a wink-nod basis (unenforecable and technically in violation of the CBA but what the hell) to release Kaepernick after the offseason program ends, giving him a chance to possibly compete and start in another city. This would give Kaepernick a way to be in the league, to stay in shape, and to demonstrate his new commitment to conformity while also helping the Panthers get their offense properly prepared for football season."

I wish I could kick u in jimmy!

Not to get too TB, but I've served in combat 7 times and I don't feel that veterans own the flag. I did fight for his right to protest. I personally don't feel offended by anything he's done...other than his inability to play the QB position effectively with consistency.

The flag is a symbol of all of us. His protest was meant to bring awareness to a problem WITHIN our own country. How our fellow citizens were treated. That seems noble. Regardless of how you feel on the issue he brought up, his form of protest, from his perspective, seems rational.

He's a POS, I'm a former Marine of 8 years, have friends that made the ultimate sacrifice, so I am not rooting for him on the Panthers.

Actually I'd boycott the Panthers if we did.

IMO, it is obvious, to me anyhow, that the kid has matured. He has taken heat for standing up for what he believes, and has done it the right way. No snarky comments to the press. Keeping his head down, and working toward a goal. He has brought to light injustices not only in our country, but in others as well. His foundation just contributed over a million and a half dollars to the Simolian relief effort.

All that is admirable to be sure. And he can play football as well, or better, than enough QBs to earn himself a shot at a job.

It is not the football side of his life that is keeping him off teams. Almost every team hates distractions. It is just how it is. And Kaep is a walking distraction at this point in time.

I would like to add that another thought could be that at this point in FA, no one is being signed. OK, maybe a better way to put that is, FA spending has slowed considerably.

If teams head to Training Camp and he is still unemployed. Then I may start believing in conspiracies.

And overall is a fuging asshole even before the anthem stuff. Seriously, fug this guy.

First I got to say, damn, people trying to instantly make us the most hated team in the league, even over the Patriots aren't they lol. With all the hate Cam already gets then add Kap even if briefly, oh lord I'd hate to picture it.

Yeah that first play is what stands out to me the most. I'd expect even a rookie QB to make that read and throw the ball instead of handing it off. That drive ended up in a safety where as if he throws it to Torrey Smith it is easily a 1st down and possibly a TD as he only has to beat one man. I don't even see Kap look around any in that clip so even more so it feels like he gave it away that it was a run play and the Rams read it like a book.

I don't feel like we need him nor do I feel like he is better than what we have. As for his protest, I didn't like what he was doing when he was kneeling but hey he had the right to do it. I personally think him putting his money where his mouth was, was a better way than just kneeling and I commend him for doing so. To be honest the 49'ers have said they would welcome him back. Let's not forget he would still be with them had he not voided his own contract. Somebody will sign him though I just don't see it as a starter which is what he clearly wanted to try and be by voiding with the 49'ers.

So, America was given to me and my ancestors...? You learn something new everyday.

I knew there was a reason I waited so long before entering this thread.

Soldiers are to be respected for their service, but their service is not the American flag. Don't mix up the two. That is somewhat of a convoluted way of thinking.

The flag is a piece of cloth which is supposed to represent so much to all, but that's not the reality that it's representing.

Like I said, don't get it twisted. The two are totally separate. To try and feign that they are one and the same is a deception and manipulation. Intelligent men understand that, and they see it for what it is.

I don't give a fug about his takes on whatever social issue he wants to be involved with.

I do give a fug that he's 3-16 in his last 19 starts.

That is not all Kap's fault. That's mainly the fault of lousy ownership and management.

------------

"It's hard not to see Smith's point. Over Kaepernick's past three NFL seasons (37 games) he completed 60 percent of his passes for 7,225 yards, 41 touchdowns and 19 interceptions. This, largely with a barren offense and a line that declined each year.

"Over a similar sample size in four years, presumed Jets starter Josh McCowncompleted 60 percent of his passes for 7,244 yards, 42 touchdowns and 25 interceptions. Brian Hoyer? 60 percent completion rate, 37 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. Mike Glennon? 60 percent completion percentage, 30 touchdowns, 15 interceptions."

When you look at things from a different perspective, then many questions really do pop up.
