Bill Voth: Don't Overthink Michael Oher Being On Concussion Protocol

Agree.  His still "being in the protocol" right now may be "merely" due to the fact that he hasn't been tested for awhile.  But fact remains is that he was in the protocol for something like 8 or 9 weeks of the active season before going on the IR, and also that in December it was reported that he was having issues with his ocular nerve (if I recall correctly)...

As far as Panthers planning goes, I think Dave has to assume Oher never plays a snap again and thus the need to find us a new LT, hence the huge contract for Kalil....   If Oher CAN play again, so much the better, but at least we've got the hole filled for now.

But it would be great if Oher IS healthy and could play one of the tackle spots.  In such a scenario it would be VERY interesting to see who ends up at LT and who at RT...   Whatever the outcome, I hope for Oher & his family's sake that he fully recovers and suffers no long-term consequences from this concussion.  Really wish the best for him.  Would be glad if he could continue to play, but recognize that may not be in his best interest even if he's medically cleared to do so.

This. Also, I'm surprised that there is 'no reason' to clear him now. Being in the protocol puts no limitations on what training you can and can't do?

That makes sense for the Panthers but I don't see it making a lot of sense for Oher! All everyone will remember about him is he was in concussion protocol for almost a year! If and when he becomes a FA again another team will be scared off or hold it against him. But if he's not complaining then yeah no need to clear him. As far as him possibly starting at RT, hell he can't be worse than Remmers!!!

After the news on Cam's shoulder, is anyone actually surprised that this organization evidently didn't realize that he had a concussion and put him back out there?

I'm sure as hell not.

The majority of Dan Morgan's career, Beason's ankle, TD's knee, Cam's shoulder, Oher's domepiece... how many medical fug ups is this organization gonna make?
