Draft Analyst Ethan Young: S Jamal Adams Not Worth Even A First Rounder?

I've only seen video clips but Hooker seems like more of a ball-hawk where Adams seemed more physical. If Adams' physicality is of the Tres Boston style that's just flinging his body and corkscrewing off the runner then I'd rather not. He's been my top choice until now but I'm easily influenced I guess.

Wouldn't rule out Hooker at 8. Coleman is very very solid and we recently extended him but he's not elite, not even close in his all around game, and is up there in age. Hooker would offer us an elite Earl Thomas like presence in our secondary and a young one on a cheapish contract for 5 years if we grabbed him, so doubt having Coleman would prevent that.

But would certainly bet on a top DE or Fournette over him. But if DG's preferred DEs and Fournette are gone would not be surprised to see Hooker. Think he's a better prospect at a tougher position to find an elite player at than Adams. Though I do like Adams a lot too and would be good with him at 8.

He argues Malik Hooker is the better overall safety:

Jamal Adams is a much better tackler than Malik Hooker. If Hooker let's up a catch he better learn how to drag down the receiver. That won't happen right away because honestly Hooker is one of the worst tacklers I've ever seen. If he can develop that Ed Reed presence of making QBs scared to throw it on him or even a Earl Thomas, he'll be worth a number 2 overall. I'd take Adams before Hooker honestly. Good luck to you if you're name is Hooker and you let up a catch underneath to Julio Jones, he'll make you look foolish as fug.

This guy should just stick to his day job, he sucks at analyzing talent. So he picked a couple of mistakes to highlight what he thinks Adams' weaknesses are. I bet that you can find more positive film than negative. Even more than Hooker, and that's saying a lot.

I'm reevaluating Adams too, I just don't think he has pro bowl or all pro upside. What's his ceiling? An above average starter? Shouldn't we want more? His best pro comparison is Kam Chancellor. Kam is good, but I expect a players best case scenario to be better than that.

His comparison has been around a poor man's Weddle when you consider he's not the enforcing type, and even that is a slight stretch.

He doesn't contain the solid tackling consistency you want to see out of your strong safety. He does flash potential, but Ethan does bring a valid point that he also has plenty of bad from where the good came from.

I like Adams, but it blows my mind that half the Huddle would seemingly take him over Fournette.

I did it at first, but Adams is not an investment on defense worth taking over a offensive weapon like LF7 to help Cam.  The only way I would flip if it was some injury concerns.

Interesting you posted this, Ethan gives a lot of great insight and just won some up and coming draft analyst award too. He certainly made me rethink my opinion of adams

I'd still be fine with him but i really want obi in r2 or baker safety wise

LEONARD MOFO FOURNETTE @ 8

Random analytics guy with 5000 followers says what

That random analytics guy just recently won the best scouting award from an event held by the NFL at the combine from what I believe. He knows his stuff.

After he predicted Bradberry to be a stud, I think he's quite credible in his reports.
