As you should guess from my name, I'm an AU fan also. Watched this for a long time. And it's more specific positions to avoid like the ones I mentioned. Steroids? Maybe? I lean more towards liberal use of holding at both positions, that seems to never get called.

As for any OTs in this draft, nothing to consider before #40. And I don't even like any there. Just not a fan of any of them.

agree with the holding. those dudes are not held to the same standard as other SEC teams.

i agree that none arr first round worthy, but those are my untrained eyes. i mean to say if Gettleman thinks one is first round caliber then i say you take them cause of the need and the depth at other positions we are looking to fill. DE, RB, and S.

I am not that concerned. Hell, he's hitting our cap for what, 13 or 14 this year. So next year, his average compensation may go up to 17 or so, and the contract could easily be structured so the cap hit would be less than this year's.

If they want to keep him, they can, no problem.

Edit- Apparently I forgot to quote. The above post is in response to those saying KK leaving after this year is a done deal.

Everyone goes with their bias, their mocks etc-- Dave goes with HIS deal-- everyone else be damned. If Cam isnt the pick-- its because Dave has someone else higher-- and if he does and the world comes to an end then its because Dave said hes the BPA.

Im not supporting this or care-- just saying Dave took Shaq and a pile of others when he wanted them, and that was that.

So for that dont be surprised if its Cam Robinson.

Since 2000(Chris Samuels) no bama OL has been selected by a team that was glad they picked him. That's more than a trend. It's starting to become almost fact. Makes one wonder how a dominant, power running team has trouble producing NFL OL and RBs to a lesser degree. CB ain't pretty either. Those are the positions that have a lot of interpretation of holding as a key factor in success. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

It isn't that they have trouble producing NFL OLs. While they usually aren't worth there first round grade, they are still NFL caliber players. They usually have 2-3 guys on the line capable of being at min. NFL back ups, which is nothing to sneeze at in college when most guys don't make it. Very few college teams can say the same.

It doesn't change anything I said. They get highly overrated and overdrafted. That's become a fact. For 17 years. You want to take one in the 1st-2nd, and be happy he's a backup? And it's not usually, it's all of them. How is it possible that all these guys bust compared to their draft position? Why do they have a similar issue with CBs? A position that is "supposed" to be Sabans specialty? What do those positions have in common?

Clearly you didn't comprehend what I said.

All I was doing was answer your question. You said you don't know why Alabama's running game is so good. I told you it's because they always have NFL caliber OLineman (just because you're a back up doesn't mean you aren't NFL caliber). Not sure why you took it a different way when I clearly said they weren't worth their draft grade.

Well, it's because I don't agree with that either: There are many teams that have 2-3 players that will be at least NFL backups. In their own division, LSU, Tx AM, Auburn, Ole Miss all have that many if not more. A&M has a ton drafted. There certainly isn't enough difference to justify that as a reason they have more consistent success than anyone else.

We aren't taking Cam Robinson at 8. Almost every mock has him going 3rd out of OTs and DG has already said this is a bad class. If Cam was our target at 8, there would have been 0 reason to sign Kalil. I don't care if the contract has a 1 year out, if you think Cam is that good to be the number 8 pick, we would have spent that money elsewhere.

Not that I want Robinson at 8, but the argument that this is a bad class for tackles means that if you want one of the top 3, you're going to have to overdraft them. Same goes for QB's.
