I know what everyone's said- like don't like-- more don't like-- but Dave has shown he's about HIS best player available-- others be damned.

So don't be shocked if Cams 8, I know people will throw a fit, but Dave will be Dave.

Just saying-- we've had plenty of guys drafted entire rounds ahead of where they were projected.

Daves world is Daves world.

He didn't just spend 25M on a LT, just to take another one top 10. And if he's not a LT, you don't take him that high.

my thought is if you have a first round grade on this guy, then you take him at 8. the whole i'd take him at 15 but not at 8 is silly. Any first rounder beyond the top five is simply a guy projected to go to several pro bowls but not necessarily a franchise player.

Look at Kalil's contract structure. It's a prove t contract that we can walk away from after this season with minimal cap impact going forward.

9.6M is not a minimal cap hit. It's waving bye-bye to either Star, Trai, Norwell or KK. Maybe two of them. Because then we get to spend another 10M+ on a another FA LT, or pray that we suck or a half-decent LT prospect falls to us. And we've seen how that works out. So that either 20M tied up in another question mark, or pray. Not the best plan.

And 13M first year is not a prove it. It's an overpay. A big one.

Necessary due diligence.  Its look more and more like we won't be getting some of the key guys at #8.  Most likely Fournette, Thomas, Allen, Adams, and Hooker are gone.  The reality is coming more and more clear that we are going to be look at OJ Howard, one of the receivers, or trading down.

The absolute only way I take Robinson before pick 64 is trading down and getting more picks and MAYBE if they love the guy and he interviews well in 2nd round I could see us taking him.. Don't think he'll be there though.

Gettleman already said he isn't reaching at #8.  Hes going BPA and Robinson is no where near BPA at 8.

My gut is telling more and more that we take OJ Howard at #8.

We aren't taking Cam Robinson at 8. Almost every mock has him going 3rd out of OTs and DG has already said this is a bad class. If Cam was our target at 8, there would have been 0 reason to sign Kalil. I don't care if the contract has a 1 year out, if you think Cam is that good to be the number 8 pick, we would have spent that money elsewhere.

i don't feel strongly about Robinson (at 8 or anywhere else), but we needed help at both tackle spots not just left so taking one in free agency and the draft isn't surprising especially given the lack of options in both. no way you'd want to limit your options either the draft or FA if two guys are needed.

I tend to side with you on this. IF you feel like a player can capably fill the hole/need on a team then I don't see why you shouldn't take him at your draft position because pundits say he's not "good value at that spot".

This doesn't mean I'm in favor of reaching for a player who is overvalued. I say take the guy if you feel he can do the job.

Right now, I'd favor Howard at 8 over Robinson. But, if Robinson became  Pro Bowler at either OT position I think we'd all be GIDDY considering the problems we've had at Tackle since J.Gross retired.

Pro Bowler? He's an Alabama OL. He will be fortunate to be with the team that drafts him in 3-4 years.

I'm just a bit curious since you made that post. Does anyone here know how BAMA lineman have fared in the NFL the last few years since Saban took over the program?

Since 2000(Chris Samuels) no bama OL has been selected by a team that was glad they picked him. That's more than a trend. It's starting to become almost fact. Makes one wonder how a dominant, power running team has trouble producing NFL OL and RBs to a lesser degree. CB ain't pretty either. Those are the positions that have a lot of interpretation of holding as a key factor in success. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with it.

I'd rather trade back with Philly if they'll give us a 2nd or some competent compensation, and take Forrest lamp as a one year experimental tackle to kick inside when turner or Norwell, or both leave. And have oher ready to kick inside too if that happens. But idk there's too many good prospects. A blue goose at one of the skills positions will fall in our laps. Lamp is a Goose too because he can play any position on the O line. Much like the Cowboys Zach Martin.

honestly im an Auburn fan so im biased. they always kick ass in the college game and then look used up --sign of steroid use ;)

i would not be at all mad if we took ramzyck or bolles at 8. while its a reach, if you think the guy is a pro bowler isnt it worth it at a position that is so important in todays pass happy game?

As you should guess from my name, I'm an AU fan also. Watched this for a long time. And it's more specific positions to avoid like the ones I mentioned. Steroids? Maybe? I lean more towards liberal use of holding at both positions, that seems to never get called.

As for any OTs in this draft, nothing to consider before #40. And I don't even like any there. Just not a fan of any of them.
