I'm already working under the assumption that Short is gone after this year. Butler will be our starting three technique going forward.

KBs 5th year option will account for quite a raise then. And like you, KK is gone. He was the day Fletcher Cox signed.

His stock has gotten so bad i really think we can steal him in the second....I wouldnt be mad, he would be perfect at right tackle

I was thinking the same thing about a possible switch to the right side in the NFL.

I wouldn't take him at 8, but I can't help but think he'd be better than Daryl Williams. Imagine if M.Kalil pans put at LT , we take Robinson at 8 and he becomes a pro bowler on the right side. We'd have a solid set tackles for the next 5 seasons.

Still, with his health history and our team needs it's a risky pick. I don't know if I'd pull the trigger. But, if G-Man did I could see the reasoning.

my suspicion is that if the Panthers are checking him out, they're evaluating him for #8. if they're banking on him being there at 40 they might be wasting a visit on him. he's considered the top tackle available by a plurality of people willing to go on the record about it.

Agreed.

No way that dude drops to the 2nd round. I doubt he makes it past 15. As I said a couple of post earlier, he'd be a great RT. Being a 1st round pick we'd have a 5th year option on him which means his contract could expire the same year as M.Kalil's new deal. If we pick Robinson at 8 and both guys live up to their potential, the Panther could possibly have the best set of tackles in NFL of the next 5 seasons.

I don't see him in the 1st. Tackles, especially, are coming out of college not ready for the NFL game. The past few high top 10 tackle picks have been underwhelming. At 40, I wouldn't mind, depending on who is off the board already. At 64, I don't think he will be there. At the least, he would give us young depth that we could possibly play at guard if there's an injury to Norwell or Turner, and possibly at tackle once he starts getting some experience in practice. He may not be a NFL LT, but linemen are a premium as we discovered last year when we didn't have anyone left to put in.

Might be a guy we could be considering packaging those two 2nd rounders together and jumping back into the late 1st to get if he slips.

But, I really think this is all about those off-field questions. We probably already know where he'll be on our draft board IF he's on our draft board. This is probably less about where we value him and a lot more about whether or not we're willing to draft him period.

As much as everyone seems to think we need a new safety, and I am not saying they are wrong, a guard in this years draft I would say is a bigger need.  Both Norwell and Turner are free agents next year.  As well as Short and Star.  I don't see how we are going to sign all 4 of them.  But I never though we would re sign Stewart 2 years after we signed Williams, so you never know.

There is a lot of truth to this.  We already have one of the highest paid O-lines in the league.  If we end up with Norwell, Turner, and both Kalils on large contracts we might have the highest in the league.  Not sure if they want to allocate that much to one position group.

Cam Robinson is going to be the steal of the draft, especially if he falls to the second.

As a LT or RT?  Enough of a steal that you would consider him one of the top 8 players in the draft?  I do agree that he might have been a bit over devalued by the board.  He might not be the top LT tackle prospect in the draft but he could still turn out to be a very good pro even at RT.

I know what everyone's said- like don't like-- more don't like-- but Dave has shown he's about HIS best player available-- others be damned.

So don't be shocked if Cams 8, I know people will throw a fit, but Dave will be Dave.

Just saying-- we've had plenty of guys drafted entire rounds ahead of where they were projected.

Daves world is Daves world.
