Is there pressure on Fox to win?

I could have sworn that I read something last year in the Observer about how John Fox had to win... that his job was on the line. We go 12-4 and get a 1st round bye, but get absoutely embarrased on our own turf with one of the worst performances in team history.

Obviously, the 12-4 record was enough for Fox to keep his job. Of course. The organization must have thought two things. A: That the Arizona lost was a fluke and B: That we just need to keep what we have.

As far as coaching staffs go, the team was willing to do nothing. Remember, Trovac was offered another job which is why we got Meeks. The team was ready to go back into next year with the exact same staff.

Then, the fans beg the team to keep Peppers, so we force him to stay under this insane one year contract, knowing we'll get JUST ONE MORE year of out him. This wasn't a move for the future.. Then we resign an aging Jake to an extension and trade away our first round pick... again, these signs point to a team who felt it's future was now. They must have figured, our run game will remain good, so let's bring back Peppers, get Jake signed up... we're going to make a push and get back to the playoffs.

So far, we haven't won anything -- not even the preseason.

So, my question is... what pressure is on Fox this year? Does he have any? Is his job secured because of last year's record? Is the front office undergoing such changes, that it's just a mess there?

Honestly, I haven't heard anything...

How bad of a season does Fox need to have? You figure next year, Peppers is gone and his predecessor, Brown, has shown little signs of stepping up. Plus, we don't have a first round pick and Fox & Hurney's ability to draft well late, is less than stellar.

Is Fox welcomed back if we don't make the playoffs? How confident is Richardson with the future of this organization?

Of course Fox has pressure to win. I guarantee you that these losses hurt him more than any of us. The same goes for Hurney. They just can't let it show when the cameras are running, because then, instead of accusing them of not caring, the fans and media will say they are in a panic and have lost the team. It's a no win situation that can only be cured by, well... winning.

there has been pressure for the past few years. this is nothing new. he has a good season, followed by a bad season, followed by a good season, followed by a .......

see the pattern?

you aren't seeing it quite right. one season of separation between 03 and 05. two between 05 and 08. So the pattern says we have to wait three seasons, and the next winning season according to that will be 2012. :(
