Carolina Panthers work out East Carolina's Zay Jones and working out Ross

Catch percentage is not the best way to judge a receiver as you should well know. Circumstance and the QB plays a part in that.

Everyone was down last year, and Funchess was one of the more efficient receivers in the league his rookie year (though admittedly not targeted a whole lot). Do I need to repeat that? Funchess was one of the more efficient receivers in the league his rookie year! Call it a wash, and give the kid some slack. We'll get a better understanding as to where he is (or not) in year three.

Except everyone wasn't down. KB and Ginn were up. Ginn was actually up big. Olsen was flat.

Funchess had 31 catches on 63 targets as a rookie. In no way, shape, or form was he one of the most efficient receivers in the league.

1. O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

2. Obi Melifonwu, SS, Connecticut

2. Curtis Samuel, WR, Ohio State

3. Kareem Hunt, RB, Toledo

4. Daeshon Hall, DE, Texas A&M

5. Julien Davenport, OT, Bucknell

6. Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State

7. ???

8. Profit

I just don't see WR being that big of a need that they would address it before DE..

Can help u don't like it. You really not going to like it when they don't get John Ross. U will have to change that ugly avatar.

He'll be ranked 3rd behind Fournette and Howard on their board so hope that they're both gone or he could very well end up being the pick.

I get you're against helping this offense but try and understand how the game works a little before you waste my time quoting me again.

"While none of these guys were established top weapons and probably would not have done as well if they played more often, they did quite well in limited time. Ginn finished fourth, Devin Funchess was 21st, Jerricho Cotchery was 55th, and Corey Brown was the only one who was underwhelming at 115th. "

"I also mentioned the Panthers’ efficient weapons before but Devin Funchess beat out all of his rookie peers in WRER. While Amari Cooper was talked about more and Stefon Diggs had more highlight plays, Funchess was quietly helping his team just as much when he was on the field. His separation score ranked eighth among qualified receivers and his WRER was 21st overall. Although he wasn’t on the field too much to start his career, he averaged more than a target for every four routes he ran, a mark that Cooper and Diggs didn’t even come close to. Seeing that Corey Brown didn’t play nearly as well as Carolina had hoped and that Ted Ginn doesn’t play every down, Funchess may be in line for a bigger role next season. Even if he isn’t quite ready, the Panthers will have Kelvin Benjamin back and Greg Olsen is still their next best receiving option, so the entire offense won’t falter because of him. If Funchess shows that he isn’t ready yet then the Panthers would have other options to turn to. Right now, though, Funchess is definitely one of the better backup receivers in the game and might have the ability to turn into a good starter, too."

I think most people would.  Not to be a "won't be there" poster but I would be shocked if half were actually there when you picked them :) but most aren't far off so who knows, maybe I'm a pessimist.

Yeah, it was an "ideal" draft work of love... lol.

PFF... shocker. Their #1 nickelback got cut and has been sitting on the couch for the last week and a half.

Ohhhh nooo.... you don't get to question the numbers produced by nerds (who never played football) just because you use a different set of nerd's numbers (who never played football)..

That's a bit hypocritical right?

I'm quoting stats for the sake of stats. I'm not trying to watch film and put a grade on a guy like PFF does.
