Why don't they bench Peppers?

Recommended Posts

They won't cut or bench him... not gonna happen. I do have a question though... why was he standing on the sidelines last night on that second to last drive by the Cowboys? Yes, the D was out on the field the entire second half but damn... come on $16 million man, get out there.

He came out for a number of plays. He waved that he needed a rest. When all starters had been out there to start the game he was panting and sweating the hardest. And not because he was working the hardest.

There's nothing to gain by cutting him but he is evolving from a non-factor into a liability. I would play him only on obvious passing downs. He's not making an effort to contain the run anyway.

Hey, I saw Brayton hustling out there last night. He has been more of a factor than Peppers for all three games now.

Honestly, Pep looks like he is about to pull a Rickey Williams and retire for some soul-searching. There's no desire in those eyes except to hear the final whistle, get his clothes changed and go home.

I hope I'm wrong, but it doesn't look like I am.

peppers was hustling too.but when it comes to a scheme based on speed from the front 4.c.johnson would be the better starter at LE

Peppers wont get benched becuase like it or not he is the best DE we have.if you want to bench anybody it would be hayden or brayton.

I think you are missing the OP's point.

We all know he is the best D player we have. But based on his effort/desire etc, sit him down.

If you know he is going to walk next year, save him from injury and get somebody else some playing time.

Why bench him. He may not be worth 1 million a game...but that is a a front office error. How many guys can play good enough to say they deserve that each week....maybe 10 guys in the entire. He still plays well.....you bench guys like Godfrey who are a liability.......not guys who aren't living up to a paycheck that is really impossible to do.
