Restructuring means moving money around 4 year period.  Aka...  changing the structure of $10M contract.  IF someone takes a pay cut, you no longer restructure contract but basically tear it up and sign a new deal because the original $10M contract over 4 years is no more.  

He basically tore his old agreement to shreds and signed a new 2 year deal with $7M guaranteed.  Panthers could of released him and saved $7M but instead they gave him $7M upfront.
