I'd prefer a vet in that role.

I concur, but this draft is special for DBs. I do know a big reason for signing Sheppard, no more teddy "penalty machine" williams as #4 CB. Honestly Dave has already signed too many players, I don't know if signing a vet CB is possible. There are still a few name CBs that would fit here.

Russell Shepard? The WR?

If you are unhappy with the year Worley just had. You may have too high of expectations for a 3rd round rookie CB.

Realistically, all you can ask of a player like that is to do one thing for you. Improve. And Worley did just that. The kid that finished the year was marketedly superior to the one that started it. And if that trend continues? The kid has a very good chance at become really good.

To those of you who are thinking "But Hub, that just isn't true. He was bad. Like stinky poo bad. And we need to upgrade." I say to you "Nah huh".

I mean to tell ya. I watched the kid, and he looked comfortable, and in control, towards the end of the year. If he continues growing, he may just be pretty good.

Ok, thanks for reading.

I really like Bradberry. I grew to like Worley a lot. He showed a lot at the end of the year. He was so afraid about getting beat deep early in the year that he gave up a ton of short to intermediate passes.

I don't foresee us picking a CB in this draft after investing in 3 last year.

The only way is if somebody drops a whole lot in the 3rd who we might really like.

The CB4 is open competition with Lou Young, Zach Sanchez and several other practice squad guys. So who knows!

I'm definitely keeping my eyes on Sidney Jones' stock on draft day. DJ and Bucky Brooks think he possibly falls to day 3 now with that injury. An achilles could potentially take until 2019 for him to return to his original speed/explosiveness/flexibility, if at all.  Look at Victor Cruz as an example of the after affect.

Jones was a top-15 pick prior and only 21 years old will help a lot. I don't see how making it to the third round is possible, but with sooooooo many talented CBs available, perhaps he does slide. If he's there at the start of day 3, I'd move up to take him in the 3rd.  Stash him away for a year and let him come along slowly in 2018.

By 2019 we could have:

CB1: Bradberry

CB2: Jones

Nickel: Worley

Yes, please.

There's not enough time for that, Olsen will be retired, TD will be retired, more than likely either Norwell or Turner will be gone to another team. It's likely that after the stupid deals teams gave Guards this offseason they could both be gone, Peppers will be retired, so will Charles Johnson in all expectations, what will the Panthers decide with Benjamin's contract and can they pay him after trying to win right now, given all unknown circumstances of the future, Kurt Coleman will be about 4 steps behind where he was in 2015. But I'm getting a little off track here, what I'm trying to say is that if we draft a Corner he needs to play now.

I'm comfortable not ecstatic with the starting secondary especially with the addition of captain, but if one of them goes down there is a drop off.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     The first seven picks would have to be worst-case for Lattimore to be in contention, plus he has some injury red flags. We need 1 more for depth and in a deep CB draft we can get great value later on.                                                                                                                                                                                             NFC South has great QB's and WR's. 2nd RD I like Adoree Jackson because hes a fantastic kick returner who can grow to be Captains replacement at nickel and be a band aid cover guy on the outside.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Cameron Sutton, Damontae Kazee, Jalen Myrick are all later rnd guys that would normally be 2nd-3rd  and would be great depth pick ups.

Bradberry and Worley both had great rookie seasons.  To expect more than what we got out of them would be foolish - especially with how they were thrown into the fire.

That doesn't mean we are set at CB.  You need more than two.

A sophomore slump out of either of those guys - or injuries - could wreck our team.

Captain can't play outside.  Zach Sanchez should have stayed cut.  And Lou Young cannot be counted on.

In a draft this deep with big and athletic corners, I would imagine that DG will consider taking one to add depth and competition.  If Lattimore is there at #8, I would not at all be shocked if he ends up being the pick - he would in all likelihood be BPA.  There are tons of great options on day two/three as well.

Having competition at every spot is critically important to building a good team.  Draft a young guy and let him push the sophomores.

You don't take a zone CB in the top 10. If you're taking a CB in the top 10 he's going to be an elite man cover guy.

Now, if we plan to run more man coverage under Wilks then CB is absolutely in play.

This is a great point.  Lattimore and Bradberry would be a great man-duo on the corners.  Worley isn't as athletic, but I think he could serve as a 3rd CB in a man-dominant scheme, given his physicality and long arms.
