Another reason to like Fournette ~

What are your thoughts on Samaje Perine? He runs a similar game as Fournette with the smash mouth style and the size to case some punishment

Fournette is my favorite to pick at 8, but if he is drafted earlier we could draft a top 3 DE or O.J Howard at 8 and possibly pick up Perine in a later round?

These video says yes ' Samaje Perine ' to  'http://draftbreakdown.com/more-than-just-a-power-back-why-samaje-perine-can-be-a-three-down-nfl-rb/'

The more I read into Samaje Perine the more I like what I hear about him.  I believe he could be a great pick later in the draft that can hold the same value to the panthers as Leonard Fournette but without the 1st round 8th pick price tag which could provide more value with that pick with another position that could benefit our offense or defense with people like O.J Howard, Soloman Thomas, Derek Barnett, Corey Davis, Mike Williams or even John Ross.  I would love for the Panthers to draft Fournette he looks like a complete beast in the run game video I have seen but is it the best move?

Actually I like this draft much more then picking Fournette at 8

It's no secret that opposing fans especially Saints fans would hate if we drafted him. They've seen him run over opposing defenses for 3 years now. A lot of people should watch the game vs Ole Miss. In 3 carries he nearly had 200 rushing yards.

Other than that, his character is that of a Panther. A real humble family guy.

Should I even ask why you are on those boards? Kinda wishy washy fan poo right there

It's a schadenfreude type thing - it's actually very fun to read their boards.  They are almost all the same...some homers, some haters, some very very opportunistic people...some realists....every now and than a 'smart' critical thinker.  :)

The OP is citing reasoning for the Panthers to take action. .

I used the word, and wording for a reason.

Sarcasm is lost on so many souls now days.

Either way, it a better statement than the OP.

Sarcasm is lost on many souls indeed - it is also the refuge of a shallow mind.

Better statement?  I said Fournette slamming into opponents 20+ times a game is going to make them wish their parents never met...

But...its a wet dream.  No way he gets to us at 8.

I'd also like to add....

I bet the fans of the other teams within the division, wished their teams, lost more games, so to pick higher than us.

The scary thing for them is that we are still essentially the same team that dominated and went to the Super bowl in 2015.  Last year we ran into the perfect storm of SB hangover, injuries, and rookie adjustments leading to a bad year.  But this year, we should be healthier (crossing fingers), and we'll get some dynamic players in the first couple of rounds.  I also have no doubt we'll be on a mission to prove last year was a fluke and play with a chip on our shoulders.

So I had some time, and watched some youtube highlights of several of the RBs, Gallman, Perine, Hood, Foreman, and Fournette; looking at the "power guys" if you will.

While I think that several of these guys look like solid  players, Fournette looks like a bonafide stud.  He has the power, speed, and violence (stiff arm is reminiscent of Steve Smith and Jonathan Stewart, putting dudes down).  He's a complete monster.

The others look like good players, but it depends on what they're asked to do.  They could develop into quality starters, or end up as JAGs on a roster.  For these guys to kind of be some of the power backs (look, I'm not a scout, just a fan with a little extra time this AM - don't take my opinion seriously!), most of them don't show the mentality to hurt the other guys.  What made Earl Campbell, Eddie George (in his prime) and Jerome Bettis dangerous was how they could psychologically put a man down, defeat tackles, and just destroy a defense's desire through contact.

I know y'all have other opinions, I'd love to see where some of the other power backs in this draft have that violent mentality to put someone else down.  While I wouldn't be hurt if we passed on Fournette, I'd sure love to see him in the black and blue beating the snot out of the NFL south for a few years...

    • Lower floors than AR coming out, or lower floors than AR now?  Are you counting that he has proven to be a productive goal line back?  AR as a prospect had just about the lowest floor you can possibly have.  Probably the same as Milroe.  Dart's floor looks a lot closer to backup QB to me, but the issue is that his ceiling doesn't look too far from that either. It's crazy that teams are drafting scratch off lottery tickets at QB with 1st round picks.
