Don't get Thomas going to the 9ers. They've drafted Dline with their first round the last 2 drafts...

I doubt it happens but actually does make some sense. The last two first rounders were drafted to be 3-4 pass rushers, very possible one of them won't fit in the new 4-3 or they could put Thomas at DT.

Just a general question because I am not big into all the activity leading up to the draft but it's obvious pretty much everyone hates McShay and Kiper and feel that they are extremely inaccurate when predicting drafts.

For those that have such strong opinions on that, who in the mock draft business is the gold standard that they are being compared to?

I love Thomas but #2???

Howard at #4???

Davis at #10???

This mock draft is dildos. The pre-draft hype is in full swing lmaooooooo

Have you ever thought that maybe it's you that is living in the pre-2016 college season hype, or, at the very least, the pre-2017 hype? A lot has gone on since this past regular college season ended. There is rightfully a reshuffling of the ranks! Your scoffing at some of these kids is laughable in itself. Bottom line is that a first rounder is a first rounder. If you believe that the talent is there and fits your needs, then eventually no one will care if someone goes five, ten or even twenty spots higher than talking heads originally projected.

I wouldn't actually take Fournette in this case, with no QB taken, you have a perfect opportunity to trade with Cleveland at 12 so they could jump Buffalo to get the QB they want.  I think it would also force Buffalo's hand at 10 to take the other QB (Either Trubinsky or Watson, whoever Cleveland doesn't pick at 8).  This drops a top 10 talent back to us with 2 QB's off the board at #12 and gives us another good pick to move back into the first.  Getting 2 first rounders in this draft would be great for the panthers.

I'm laughing because it's ridiculous. All of this is based on the combine, not the 2016-17 season. Why the fug would the 49ers draft another DL after drafting two in two straight years. They need a QB, WR, OL, LB, and DB. Thomas going there would be overkill especially since they badly need a QB. Then there's Howard at #4 to The Jaguars. That's pure hype. Forget that he's not going anywhere that high but The Jags just let go of Julius Thomas and their new system will neglect the TE position. Then to close out the Top 10, you got Davis who wasn't projected to even go in the Top 25 (some didn't even have him going in the first round). What changed? He broke a severely overrated record at the combine. Nevermind that his legs are toothpicks and that his knees are ticking time bombs, but he's raw as hell and has trouble picking up the playbook. GTFO.

This mock draft is based on combine hype and nothing more.

The 49ers need to improve in all areas!  This is a new regime that obviously wants to put its on mark on the franchise. BPA is BPA! I certainly wouldn't draft a lesser player if I thought one was lightyears better than someone at another position, or that much better than what I already have.

Your argument about the Jags has some validity, but remember that this is Couglin's baby now. He could easily make his presence known (not that it isn't already), but, like I said, I don't think they'll nab Howard, though I absolutely believe he will be drafted earlier than you think.

As for Davis, you are obviously mixing him up with John Ross. Davis was always considered in the running for a top 15 pick (probably at worst). Route runner extraordinaire with good size, speed and athleticism are always coveted by many franchises.

Since no one has addressed this as yet, I thought I would throw my hat in the ring. They are basically just talent evaluators that specialize in the draft. They are both knowledgeable and are pretty well respected in the draft board community. I mean, that is all these guys do. Watch as much college football as they can, and keep track of each and every player they think has a chance to advance to the NFL.

That said. These guys are experts, and they are wrong more than they are right where the draft is concerned. But their player evaluations are usually pretty spot on. Let's be honest here. Even if you do track all the players. You are still basically guessing where they will go.

The NFL Draft is like the NCAA Bracket. Even the experts have a hard time getting it right.
