Bucky Brooks: Howard most complete TE in 10 years

top dawg

Recommended Posts

Mocks are all over the place, but I have seen very few have Howard as high as 8.

These guys for instance have him from 12 - 29 in the first round.

Drop back a bit, pick up early third if Howard is your guy

Then

1st  Howard TE

2nd  Obi S

2nd Jackson CB

3rd Perine RB

3rd Elfien C/G/T

4th Hendrickson De

5th Anzalone LB

If we go with this settlement we might as well not draft anyone on offense because they will not be utilized properly..As I recall Shula stated his offense was about the same as Chud that is why they chose him he only added the read option plays to it...Shockey left before Shula became the OC..We have been searching for a 2nd TE every since but never in position except for last yr to really get one...Maybe Shula has been handicapped when it comes to the skills position to make the offense great.this yr I believe he will get what he wants and if it doesnt work he will be gone.

Like I said in the OP, Shula was campaigning for a second TE this time last year, ostensibly because he thought that opposing defenses would catch up with what made the Panthers so successful in 2015. Well, he was right (not that that excuses his seeming lack of imagination when things began to go south). To me, this points to his desire to actually use a second TE as another weapon in the evolution of the offense in two-TE sets. Some people want to whine about Shula while simultaneously insinuating that he doesn't know how to exploit talent that they think we should withhold from him. It's high time that he is set up for success so that we can winnow him out with the weeds if he fails. Don't tell me to not give him some new toys, but expect a different result. It doesn't make sense. Furthermore, even if Shula is axed, we still would have the player for a minimum of four years post-Shula, and I'm sure a new OC would appreciate that.

I'm less and less interested in Fournette. I can't remember a stud running back really helping a team in a while. I won't be upset if it's the choice but yeah...

Elliot maybe but that line could make any number of running backs look good.

Our talent on offense is not good..hasnt veen since Cams rookie yr..Cam, Stew,Olsen, kahlil carried the team last yr along with defense.. These players are getting old the defenses have found ways to eliminate each one...we need someone else to step up on offense  11 players and only 7 are good ..we have no dangerous receivers.  Or depth

I agree 100%,  Rivera has his vets and continuity on defense if Shula is not provided with weapons, he and Shula will be on the couch come January.  I hope this is not the case.

i am with you on this but we need pass rush too...we have a chance to get a really good DE in the draft and we need to do so

i still say Howard t #8, but it will likely play out as to who is there when we pick

PS:....if KB and Cam don't have much better yrs than LY, we are sunk anyway

I think we can get by with the DEs we have now but still need to draft one with a high motor..our backend has improved so defense should still be ok..but our offense as it is now severely needs an overhaul..we have no speed and 1 reliable good pass catcher who will be blanketed...stew can be good if line creates holes w/o injury but thats it..you got to get someone that defenses respect...Cam is not going to get any respect until he has better passing and better wr..which will make things much harder for Rbs.

Someone on the Huddle made a point about how the Patriots win because they find players who fit their system perfectly and when they leave they find another player who fits perfectly.  I think we are doing some of that here.  AJ Klein was a poor mans Luke here.  Shaq is similar to TD.  I think Howard would be a great way of doing that with Olsen.

Lieutenant Winslow was supposed to revolutionize the game.... I would steer clear of a TE in the first round

To be fair, Winslow got a huge injury his rookie season then got in a bad motorcycle accident. Otherwise, I think he'd be one of the league's top TEs.
