Bill Voth: At Least One Team Looking To Trade For Tre Boston

Boston is incredibly frustrating. He can make a great interception, but then miss 4 tackles in a row. This is likely his last year here anyway. Cut ties.

UNC fans are quite used to this. We've been seeing this same trend of inconsistency from him for a loooooong time.

Y'all are nuts.  Boston has improved greatly and has done great against the run.  His coverage skills improved a lot toward the end of last season.  He's not an all pro, but he isn't as terrible as some of you assume.

with that being said...if we are offered something decent it might be worth pulling the trigger.

my guess is it was the Bills who asked.  McDermott probably likes him.

Maybe he just needs a change of scenery, he's always at the brink but can never reach the peak.

Most plays involving Tre, have him nearly missing the play or not making the play.  Those near misses always get me excited with hope that he can turn the corner.  But those bad angles and missed tackles have me wanting to pull the trigger.

I personally like him as depth, and when we have a good rush, similar to all our guys in the secondary.

When our rush is effective I like all of our guys on the back end. It all starts up front, Coleman blew some assignments/coverage also. Boston is a solid safety who made some big plays for us.

I don't agree with a trade since we don't have anyone behind Coleman, or Adams.

The Ealy deal I get it because he wasn't going to play in front of Addison, Johnson, or Peppers. Get what you can for him, sacrificing a third but moving up 8 spots in the 2nd I can accept for a player that wasn't likely to see the field.

I think Boston will still see some spot duty at FS/SS on passing downs.

for many reasons, and at this point, I'd rather take trade value when a player has spent years trying to put it all together...

So in the event of an injury over a substantial amount of time you're ok with Jones, or Dean Marlowe who's been on IR the last two seasons, or counting on a rookie...

I'd rather keep the player, and draft a rookie, the reason the vets were signed this off-season was so we don't have to lean on a rookie player at any position.

You don't trade quality depth for an unknown. Again the only reason we could trade Ealy was because the depth is more than established already at DE.

And like Dave has said in the past, this team is good at so many positions that it is hard for rookies to make the final 53. Look at the drafted rookies we've placed on the PS that last couple of years, and that was when we had 5-6 draft picks.

We're slated to have 8 this year, this is a hard team to make for guys drafted late.

I've never really thought Tre was as bad as people here saw him.

That said, this draft is incredibly deep at Safety, and I think we should take anything we can get for him if someone is bringing an offer to the table that will allow us to draft a younger, better replacement.

I'm still holding out hope that we draft Donald Payne from Stetson in a later round, or sign him in UDFA. He's the total package athlete, similar to Jabrill Peppers. Almost NONE of the public scouting sites or circles are giving him any respect, but I fully believe he will be a starter in the league for a while.
