Jared Cook, anyone?

I'd love to add him but not for his likely price. It was reported that the Packers offered him more than the 3 years $21M they gave Bennett and he turned it down. Possible that he and his agent completely sh*t the bed but I see him getting around that or more from some team. Too much for us.

HAHAHA yea not for that much but if we get rid of Dickson we free up some decent cash.

Didn't know he was looking for that much. Also hadn't heard the story. If that's how it happened, then it's good enough for him. He's always underperformed, even last season. One decent postseason doesn't mean you should get the big head. If you really look at his career production, it doesn't command top tier pay, so unless some team with deep pockets just wants to throw money at him for the helluva it, I see a more reasonable contract, commensurate with his career in his future. If I were Gman, I would at least make the call.

It'll be easy to land him. Just pay him his asking price. Will any team give him what he wants though? His one year deal with GB wasn't that much, and they got Bennett for less than Cook's price. Cook seems to think his good play in last season's playoffs makes him an elite TE.

This TE class is way too deep for me to waste that much on an underachiever. Guard salaries went up. Pay Norwell and Turner and use the draft to get a TE2 who can replace Olsen in a few years and be good now.

A one year prove it deal is not bad. I think that giving rookies a year to be eased into a larger role is underrated these days (especially by message boarders).

apparently he's asking for more money than Bennet got, yikes

but if he comes back down to Earth and is reasonable I'd sign him. Worst comes to worst if we end up with OJ we can just bench him.

Cook >> Dickson

Two to tango. He's got to want to take a cheaper 1 year deal. Also, he isn't a blocker and never was. We need a TE who can block. Personally, if the draft doesn't fall with Fournette or Adams, I wouldn't mind seeing Howard. That's a big reason I don't want to waste money on a non-blocking TE. There's two good ones in the draft in Engram and Everett.

Also, being the TE2 is easing them in. I just think this TE class is so damn deep and solid. One of my favorites later is Sprinkle. Known as a blocking TE, he impressed me catching at the combine. He looked better catching than Njoku.

I don't subscribe to PFF, so I don't have his grade fir ladt season, but here is something from last year.

Cook has finished as our 11th-best and 13th-best run-blocking tight end, respectively, in 2015 and 2014.

https://www.profootballfocus.com/fantasy-jared-cook-is-an-intriguing-te-flier-after-signing-with-the-packers/

Cook might not be the best blocker, but he's no slouch, and there are no garauntees that any TE we draft is going to come in and do as well in his rookie year.

I get your point though, but my desire is to load up for a championship run this season, and I believe that Cook would help.
