If Garrett and Charlton both end up elite, which is a good bet then Charlton is a better fit for this team than Garrett

Okay whatever.. Taco only showed up his last year on college.. Good for him he is going to fool alot of ppl get paid and put some of that money back into the big blue program.. I hope he cares enough to make it to a 2nd contract but i have doubts..

It isn't falsehood to point out Barnett's short arms and less than ideal 4-3 DE size. That's just reality. If the guy had ideal size with his production, he'd be getting top 5 pick discussion. He's not for a reason. Then there's the fact that his Combine performance numbers were borderline awful. I get that he was sick, but he needs better performances at his pro day. When you have less than ideal size combined with less than ideal athleticism, that equals one helluva question mark. I expect him to put up much better numbers at his pro day. If he doesn't, he might be in for a slide.

Agreed on Taco. He looks like a classic bust prospect.

I can accept that Thomas measures better than Barnett did at the combine in some areas. But using that same criteria Thomas measurables are way worse than many other guys with equal or better production. So you can't have it  both ways surely? Lots of mock assessments i read have BOTH Barnett and Thomas as 'tweeners' compared to the prototypes. What nobody has explained to me yet is why therefore Thomas attributes compared to others aren't important but Barnett is criticized.

I think awful was a bit strong, but his measurables were not even average historically. Sickness or not be needs to better those numbers to get into the ten in April.

I like him, think he is closer to Aaron Curry that Thomas, actually almost too safe as his production and bend is  great. He is fairly well along as a pass rusher. I just see his ceiling as CJ, not JPP or an elite level. I want him on the Panthers but honestly want more from 8 than CJ in a loaded draft.

IMO Thomas is a lot riskier, but physically he tests well above average. I'm just not thrilled with the production and experience as a full time 4-3 edge rusher with his hand down.

Way worse in what ways? The knocks on his measurables are his height and his arm length. Ideally, you'd like to see both an inch or two longer.

I see Thomas' measurables as less of a concern than Barnett's because his arms are longer, he's heavier (based on the apples to apples numbers we have available right now) and he's faster and more athletic (again, based on those same apples to apples numbers) and I'm betting he's stronger (30 reps for Thomas).

There's a lot I don't know about this game,  and It may surprise people to know that I learn a lot from the huddle. Maybe someone can explain to me the advantages that extra height and weight bring and why people seem to consider it the most important factor in assessing DEs? Is it simply a case of power in the bull rush and being able to bat down balls at the line of scrimmage?

Im not an expert and I don't know if this was answered but the arm length of a DE or OT is important because of the point of attack or engagement. If an OT can get their arms on you before you get into a bull rush or swim move then it stymies your ability to get to the QB.

Your man crush is blinding you.

Cool honestly i don't care about the underware olympics..

Most teams don't either other then medical checks and private interviews..

Fans are the ones who get bent out of shape over that stuff..

So like i said i hope these slights against Barnett gives us a better chance to draft hin with later picks..
