Which DE is worth a shot in this years draft

First we were talking about explosion, then quickness, and now bend.  You are right about Bennett, as a RDE in a 4-3 he did it all the time.

Thomas didn't, was it because he couldn't or their defense didn't ask him to?  Look at his alignment compared to Bennett.  How often was he aligned to do that, in a 3-4 his outside line backers were probably asked to do that.

I agree that it is a bit of unknown with him but his 3 cone at the combine suggest he can.  His number was outstanding.  It helps to measure speed while bending.  Here is a description:

As far as the Freeney video goes a lot of those highlight are him lined up as a RDE speed rushing in passing situations.  We just signed our RDE pass rush specialist to a 4yr deal.  I see Thomas as a LDE and future CJ replacement.  As a LDE you are often covered up by a TE so "bending" around the corner isn't as viable.  Also DEs have run defense responsibilities that he has shown to excell at.

I

I like Thomas. Just in my perfect world I want a proven speed demon off the edge wrecking havoc on OLines. I won't be mad if we drafted him. Right now I want either Adams, hooker, thomas, or Barrett at 8

I'm loving the lively DE debate bc I think it's fair to say Chicago, Tennessee, and Jax may do some stupid sh*t ahead of us.

I actually think the Titans could reach out of nowhere for Corey Davis.  Chicago could go QB, and Jax go Fournette.

So...one of the top DEs is falling from my view.  I'd be curious to the reaction if it's Allen.  At the beginning of this past season, it was him listed as the undisputed #1 ahead of Garrett for many scouts.  Just a reminder.

Hooker and Allen are the two I can see end up being there for us.  Garrett, Adams, & Fournette are the three I just have a hard time seeing 7 teams passing on (trade ups or not) .

I'm not a draft guru and do not follow the pre-draft  speculation closely. Wirh Ealy gone, that leaves Addison, Johnson, Peppers, and Horton. Add Delaire to the mix I guess, and that's the DE group.

What do those who follow this stuff feel they can get with one of their many picks who is worth a damn. Johnson is older and injury prone, Peppers going on 37. Horton not a pass rusher and Delaire is a jag. Addison is the guy on the rise. What can we expect DG to do in the draft to infuse the spot with new talent.

I'd bet a lot of money that we take a DE before the end of the 3rd round. Honestly, I'm expecting to go DE with one of our 1st two picks. I really think that we want to go offense in the 1st we'll just have to see how it all shakes out.

I really wish Barnett had come to the combine at 265lbs and run a 4.5, it would have made all this a moot point because with his tape and those measurables I think everyone would have been comfortable taking him. Maybe he will do better at his pro-day when he isn't sick but if he puts up a similar performance I think he drops a ways.

Do you DG has balls to go for " Myles Garrett "....

According value chart in this article

http://www.carolinahuddle.com/2017/03/11/carolina-panthers-trade-nfl-draft/

position one worth 3000, with our first, 2 second, we will come around 2170, which only enough for 3rd pick but it is also reality that nobody will get dollar for dollar value for 1st pick....so Browns can say, we have so many holes in the team, it is better to get pick then Mayles Garret, which I have an impression they don't want to pick (not that he is a bad player or anything like but they have so many holes they have other priorities..) otherwise I can't explain why to give away Ealy just to go 8 spot in the draft.

For Panthers point of view, ok 3 picks are hefty, but consider this, before this free agency, if I told you DG will sign so many people in the first 2 days, what would you tell me. Panthers is now build in the win now mode, Leonard Fournette is a good pick but at the moment it is a luxus, we have Jonathan Steward and other serviceable RBs, picking future starter for TE is also valid argument but think like this Myles Garret is day 1 starter and Charles Johnson, Julius Pepper, Horton, etc.. are not the future of Panthers but Garret be a solution for today and the future...and in my opinion DE is still the weakest link of the Panthers...

If the DG didn't do what he did in the first two days of the free agency, I would say, he will never trade to 1st pick but now I don't know. I don't know that our pick will be Garret but I am sure we will draft a DE in this draft, this is the only position in Panthers roster that these is nobody for the future, we can get quality RB, TE, S in later rounds because there is depth in this draft for those positions and DG addressed this positions also in the free agency but I think most flawed position of Panters roster at the moment is DE....
