REPORT: Panthers going after Munnerlyn and Peppers

Today's Carolina Panthers free agency recap: Arrivals: The Panthers came to terms on a five-year, $55-million deal ($25 million guaranteed) with former Minnesota Vikings left tackle Matt Kalil. The official announcement is expected Friday after Kalil flies from the West Coast to Charlotte. Locking down Kalil to assure Cam Newton's blind side was protected was key with 2015 left tackle acquisition Michael Oher still in the concussion protocol. There weren't many good options in free agency or the draft. The Panthers also were negotiating with other free agents. Among those expected to draw interest are Minnesota cornerback Captain Munnerlyn and Green Bay defensive end Julius Peppers. Departures: Wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr., a player Carolina wanted to re-sign, chased the money and signed with NFC South rival New Orleans. Backup linebacker A.J. Klein also signed with the Saints, wanting to pursue a starting job. He wouldn't get that chance playing behind Luke Kuechly. In all, 12 Carolina players became free agents, but these were the only two that signed during the first wave of free agency.

Hope we get them. Would love to see Peppers finish up his career here and Captain would give us the legit nickelback we've been lacking for awhile now. Still hope to see a DE drafted in the first 3 rounds even if Peppers does sign.

Peppers, yes please. Peppers showed last year he's got more than enough left in the tank to get to the QB

Veterans are welcome especially Peppers.  I find it VERY interesting we aren't targeting any RBs.  Yeah, the draft is deep there but IMO not more than 4 deep.  (LF, CM, AK, DC)

There's something about Carolina sports and wanting to run a sports team more like a family rather than like a business. Canes tried this and failed. We will too.
