Jerry Richardson becoming an Al Davis ?

Jerry Richardson, our ailing owner, is starting to grow impatient and this offseason, he seemed adamant with his decisions, in spite of all appeals, from possibly his two sons, which pretty much explains why they were fired.

I'm sorry to say this, but Jerry Richardson is starting to become like Al Davis. He seems to be in disarray, his health is in question, he's impulsive in his decisions, and he wants to win NOW. He's in a precarious state, and whoever disagrees with him will be dealt with. Sound familiar ?

This offseason raised a lot of questions about the franchise and the direction in which we were headed. Some of the moves led us as fans in a state of utter consternation. From the contract extension to Jake Delhomme, to the exorbitant tender of Julius Peppers. From trading our 1st round pick again to not addressing the QB situation led most of us shaking our head. I tried to decipher some of these moves, and the only conclusion I could come up with is Jerry Richardson, his health, and him wanting to win now. We all know these decisons are short term decisons and are going to have huge ramifications for our franchise in the years to come.

What are we going to do next, sign Bett Favre, extend Julius Peppers for another year, trade our 2011 1st round pick for an overrated veteran ?? I'm sorry to say this, but Jerry is not going to be a centenarian, he knows that, and we know that. Looking at him today covered in a blanket in hot Dallas didn't look good at all. This offseason was the first offseason in Panthers history where I felt perplexed, and dubious about the decisions made, but it's starting to make sense now. The two sons and Jerry obviously dissented in opinion. They were looking at moves that would help us in the future, while Jerry was looking at moves that would make an immediate difference. Jerry has become complacent, and now the demise of this franchise looks imminent. I just don't want to become like Al Davis's Raiders. I guess this offseason will be the most telling.

I dont get it... Richardson has been too sick to even be compared with Al Davis. Most moves you spoke of go directly on Hurney, not big homie. Al Davis, those moves go on him. I think firing of the sons, now that he's back in good health, was a result of them two having differencing of opinions from one another, and was effecting others around them.

Well you say the decisions are coming from Hurney, but how sure are you? I'm pretty sure all decisions are presented to the big boss before they are made, so who knows who makes the final call.

And Jerry is not in good health. Looking at him today portrays that pretty clearly.

It's silly to make the comparison this year. If John Fox and Marty Hurney are still here next season, THEN the Al Davis comparisons can start flying. Although Davis has a rep for firing coaches very quickly. A better comparison might be William Ford of the Lions if Fox and Hurney stay here next season.

However, I trust that Richardson won't bring them back next year.
