Browns Trade For Brock Osweiler

I cannot believe the amount of good posters that feel like brown got the better end of this....... Houston for sure wins this, unless the browns drafted a 10x Superbowl MVP with #2 pick.
16 million for a late #2, is terrible. More than not that pick is a bust, so we another 5+/- million to the red and tear begin to fall.

"Good Posters" is a relevant term. More like knee jerk reactions. I still don't understand it all but will form an opinion after the dust settles.

Waiting on facts and for scenarios to play out is frowned upon here.

All judgments must be made months before the actual outcome is known.

Yeah, i got you, but it's the browns.  They need a QB, or at the very least competition, and Hue prolly thinks he can fix him.  So, they got a 2nd round pick and it does nothing to their cap long-term if it doesn't work out, from what I understand.  Like I said, I agree with you, Osweiler is garbage, but he's a body and they got a 2nd rounder for taking him.  That's worth it, IMO.

Yes honestly this a very unique NFL trade and there's many layers to it. At first glance I had one thought, then after thinking 16 million is a huge pile of cash AND Brock is a bum...... The second rounder is a unknown, I feel Houston dry prison raped the browns. Seen many other posters that felt the opposite, even got even more confused.

This could be a good move over the long haul for Browns.  They can either pick up some good talent with their picks this year, see what Osweiler can do,  and if he is as bad as he was with the Texans, they will still be bad enough to pick a QB next year.  Or they can pick a qb this year, let him ride the pine for a few games and watch Osweiler get beat up.

People see Browns and Osweiler, and automatically think bad deal.  How it pans out depends on several factors, primarily how well they draft.

You're right this one definitely needs some time. Unique is a understatement. Johnny as much as I dislike it, it's a now microwave society. If I gave my first thought, it would have been different.  It tooks about three hours to process, LOL Cleveland, 16,000,000, bum Brock, future #2, Houston owner, 16 million in cash, cap, never done before. After the smoke form my ears cleared, I somewhat understood......

Say you're a NFL owner and have 65 million in "cap space". Would you sign Brock for 16, 000, 000 in cash and get the 55 overall pick in the 2018?

You clearly believe the Browns made a bad trade. That's fine. You're allowed to have that opinion.

However, that money was not going to get spent so they used it to get a second rounder.

It's kind of like this. Let's say you're uncle gives you 100 dollars to spend at American Eagle. Now having some self respect you don't shop at American Eagle. So that money is just going to go to waste.

Someone desperate for American Eagle comes along and offers you a gift card to Target, trouble is they have no idea how much is on it. Could be more than 100 dollars- heck you could trade that gift card for maybe Jimmy Garappolo.

You do it.

What you're saying the Browns do is not make the trade and pray American Eagle randomly offers something you like before the gift card expires a year from now.

You do it?? Plus I didn't know American eagle was a fashion no-no, but what do I know having the same style for 20 some years.....  I know Brock is a bum and spending 16 million on just about any other players is better. 16 million in cash is still a lot to a NFL owner.  You may end changing your mind, once this becomes clearer.

going to have to agree to disagree. Browns have been putrid for years now. They need to try some new things and swing for the fences. I like the move for them and for Houston.

Not sure how to judge this deal but there is one part that is the most likely mistake in all of this.

Brock Osweiler. Just Brock Osweiler. Going from being wanted by the Broncos to possibly getting released outright by the Browns after this trade. Yikes.
