Cleveland front office is finally competent, that's a good move for them they have the cap room

16 million for a late(should be) 2nd rounder, is terrible. The hit rate on a late 2 is less than 40%, Houston corrected a giant mistake IMO.

Cleveland had over 100 million dollars in cap space. They got a great haul for their o-line today. They aren't using the rest of that money this year anyway and they can cut Brock next year at no cost.

Oh btw for future reference two teams can benefit from a trade, it was a great deal for Houston too.

I cannot believe the amount of good posters that feel like brown got the better end of this....... Houston for sure wins this, unless the browns drafted a 10x Superbowl MVP with #2 pick.

16 million for a late #2, is terrible. More than not that pick is a bust, so we another 5+/- million to the red and tear begin to fall.

Tru they had space, but 16 million Spent on Brock is a wasted 16 million. That money could have been used on a few others that would improve their team. I know they have a big issue with getting anyone to take their space. Houston made a giant mistake by signing Brock to that deal(I blame the GM), but they corrected it with the price of a late 2.

browns are not competing this year- who are they signing with that money to help them win?

I said Houston mutually benefited.

No they are not, ANYONE is better than wasting 16 million no Brock. Brock would be lucky to get a minimum deal now, he fell so far in one season it's crazy. Jeffrey got 14, add that with a Horton/Jones/fozzy it's better. Once Jeffrey is signed by another team in 2018, you get a 3rd comp. Sure it's not a #2, but it's good pick.

I think this 99.674% in Houston's favor, Cleveland out smarter themselves again. They got 16 big ones off the books for the value of a 2017 3rd.

from what i heard earlier on nfl insiders, the browns had so much cap space that they didnt plan on using and acquiring brock put them up above the cap floor, so it was a move they needed to make with money anyway...  they just happened to acquire a 2nd rounder and a potential starter while doing it.  I believe they also said that if they were unhappy with him, they could decline his option after this year and basically owe him nothing.  So, it was actually a win for the Browns in a lot of ways.  I think Brock is a bum, but they got a 2nd rounder for essentially nothing bc they didnt need the cap space he will occupy.

You know there's many ways to increase your cap spending, just guarantees and extend a few and you're there. Hell give Pryor some cash, he put up big numbers with no QBs. This is very similar to the government that needs to spend 16 million on the roads, in efforts to get the same budget next year.(if not higher). So they blow-up a bridge and spend one year plus 16 million to fix it. Brock is a broken bridge bum now, a complete waste of money.

You know in the NBA teams trade second round picks for cash each year. Most times it's for around 1million. No way is a late nfl 2 is worth 16 million, cause most time that guy is out of the league after his rookie contact.

Yeah, i got you, but it's the browns.  They need a QB, or at the very least competition, and Hue prolly thinks he can fix him.  So, they got a 2nd round pick and it does nothing to their cap long-term if it doesn't work out, from what I understand.  Like I said, I agree with you, Osweiler is garbage, but he's a body and they got a 2nd rounder for taking him.  That's worth it, IMO.
