Browns Trade For Brock Osweiler

Call me crazy but the Browns are onto something here. The whole thing was a disaster and they ripped the band aid off last year. Now their O-line is starting look good. They have acquired massive draft capital from 2016-2018.

They are about to be very solid in the trenches on both sides of the ball if they pick Garret as expected and he's as good as advertised. Of course they could trade down and acquire more capital and still come away with Soloman Thomas or even Jonathan Allen who are both used to playing DE in a 3-4.

This might be the first time in years that I think the Browns did something right.  Osweiler isn't that great, but they have TONS of cap space that by league rules they have to spend, in return they get a QB who had enough potential that he was last seasons hot commodity (and more than likely better than any QB on their roster right now).  On top of all of that, they gave up nothing.  Remember, attracting FA's to Cleveland is next to impossible so they would have to overpay for anyone that they would get anyway, why not over pay for a QB and get picks as well on top of all of that.

LOLLLLL!!!!! Probably the best move the damn pathetic Browns have made in 40 years. Get a mediocre QB and plus a 2nd rounder.

The Texans are a damn mess!!!!!!! And Heath Evans said they got the better HC over Denver.

A mess in the playoffs unlike the two teams who played in the Super Bowl the year before. One of those teams being 15-1...

I initially didn't see that the Browns got a 2nd rd pick for the trade!! It looks like highway robbery now!! The Texans are going to have to give up a 3rd or 2nd in this draft for Romo! Are they really that close to being a Super Bowl contender?!

great trade by the browns.

they buy a 2018 2nd round pick and only have to keep osweiler on the roster for 2017.

can draft myles garrett at 1 and still their qb of the future at 12.

their OL is now loaded.

I'd skip drafting QB (except for a later round flyer) and use Brock as a 1 year rental. This first round is loaded with homeruns; use the two 1sts on people that will be sure-fire-locks. Garrett and almost any other position besides QB, really. S, DE, Tackle, LB, WR. They'll have another high pick next year and maybe a better draft class.

Wait you guys realize the browns GET a second round pick right?

You realize the Browns also get a bust of a QB with a big contract, right?

Houston desperately wanted off the hook of that mistake. The Browns did what the Browns do and took the bait.

Genius move by the Browns. Get a 2nd round pick and a 6th rounder for a 4th and taking on one year of a QB salary which won't hurt them at all, could possibly help them, but when he doesn't will be easy to cut ties with after a year with no problems. Texans massively busted giving Brock that deal and are giving away a 2nd rounder just to get rid of him, lol.

No commitment by the Browns after a year. One year flier that doesn't hurt them at all because of how absurdly much cap space they have. Great move.

this thread has me so confused. Houston is the loser here. The browns made A HELL OF A TRADE here!

What exactly have the browns lost in this scenario? Money. that is it, and they weren't going to be able to spend it all anyway.

If this was NE everyone would be lauding them for their creativity. I actually can't wait to see what the browns can do in this draft to continue turning around the ship.

I'd say yes if Romo could definitely stay healthy (he can't) and if they kept Bouye (they aren't), but that's not the case, so not sure they'll quite get there. Could though. Made it relatively close in New England this year with Brock and without Watt, so who knows.
