Thats a beast of a contract for an olineman that's been underperforming for the past few seasons, jesus. We'll all have to really hope he pans  out.

Am I crazy for thinking this isn't that bad a contract? Ends up being 5 million a year if he doesn't work out. If he does work out were paying 11 million for a staple at LT. Left Tackles who can play aren't cheap, fellas.

Remember guys...Oher is set to make over 7 million this season.  If he retires, Kalil is basically his replacement at 3 million more per year.  If Oher is cleared to play, we have a much improved offensive line.

Not crazy at all.  I agree with you.  Sadly several others on here hope kalil sucks so they can blame Gettleman and claim they were right.  True fans, aren't they?

I assume the structure of the contract allows for us to get out of the deal after 2-3 years with little to no damage. The breakdown is more important than the numbers we are seeing right now. It's probably more like a 2 year 20 million dollar deal with options.

No, you aren't.

It depends on how the contract is back loaded. The 5 million a year guaranteed is fine. I'd like to see the salary for the first three years. Could be as little as 7-8 a year until the contract is renegotiated and extended.

I understand it's terrible, but this is a big contract hoping he comes back and becomes a franchise LT.

It's a need I'm sure Gettleman is nearly hanging himself for, but it had to be done. Hate to say we overpaid a player for the first time ever.
