The 25 million is guaranteed. Doesn't matter if it's all one signing bonus paid right now or 5m paid each year. It's going in Kalils pocket.

if Kalil played 1 game and then left he'd get the same as a top 5 rookie over 4 years.

the rest of his contract (up to 55m) will be bonuses based on attending camp and how well he and the team does. Given how tight Gman is I'd be surprised if Kalil is likely to get many of these unless we go to a Super Bowl, he lets through a tiny number of sacks or goes to the probowl. 

Thats why he's not likely to make as much as a top 5 rookie that's guaranteed 25 mil up front with a potential 5th year option.

Some of you guys just need to shut the fug up.  Okung is the highest paid LT in the NFL but people are bitching why we didn't sign him instead.  Denver declined his 2nd year option (and they need a LT) and SD made him the highest paid LT.  To get a decent LT, you HAVE TO PAY.

You act like we can just hand out that 30M any way we want. Explain how you can break down 30M to 10M over all 5 years. Because if he doesn't play all 5 years, then we are paying a penalty. And if you kick the base salary down the road, it just costs more. Show me how Kalil will only make 35M in 5 years. I'm curious. I really want to know.

1. Guaranteed 25m will include first years game checks and all camp bonuses. Guarenteed figures at this point are normally inflated by the player's agent to include injury guarantees and the first years base salary.

2. I don't expect Kalil to play anywhere close to the 80 games over the course of the season or to complete the contract, there's no cash impact to Kalil of converting base salary to a signing bonus in a contract (if that's what you mean by kicking it down the road) it's purely a cap management thing. And it's highly unlikely Gettleman will be giving him the opportunity to earn 30m in incentives and bonuses over the course of the contract. 

All in all I don't expect him to earn more that this year's 5th round pick over 5 years but there's no way of telling now. If he does I'll change my name to Toomer's lil bitch.

     That 30M is base salary. Somewhere in the contract. Sooner or later, you have to pay it or cut the player. Or he has to agree to restructure. If it's all in the first two years, why are we signing Kalil if we don't think he's good enough to play more than two years. Why not Whitworth. 

  We will see when the terms come out. And you can change your name to anything you want. Don't get mad if someone disagrees with you. Just prove your point. It just shows you ran out of rational things to discuss. Try some Summer's Eve and a nice tea.
