Anyone half a brain knows we're not going to draft a guy who was never used by Alabama consistently. He'll just be another prospect from Alabama in a long line of disappointments.

Julius Thomas 2.0

You don't blow an 8th overall pick on a guy like him. Furthermore, as other posters have mentioned, Shula runs 2 TE sets but the #2 TE blocks primarily so... again why would we waste a pick?

In the 2 TE set both TEs should be able to block and catch keeping the defense off balanced on whether its run-pass-playaction-etc.

OJ Howard can do both, like Olsen but your just blinded cause you didn't watch the video where the guy clearly states that he is a In-line & H Formation blocker  that is ready for NFL.

Yep and what separates Howard from other Alabama players that scouts complain are "maxed out" before they enter the NFL, is that Howard has untapped potential as a receiver and was not used properly. The video showed him being used underneath in the flats instead of deep.

he would be an instant starter.

Another weapon for Cam.

He can block and Olsen isn't getting younger

remember how effective the Panthers were with  Shockey?   See how effective the Patriots are with two  tight ends and yes I know it was chudzinski  as OC and not Shula

he is a play maker and if they can't get a rb then go get him

it is very true the panthers need dline  help but the fact is short of Newton and Olsen., the offense has nothing

and yes I know about 2015. Film has caught up with it and it is not maintainable    for reasons discussed elsewhere

If he can block, catch passes as well as anyone, and has that sort of speed, along with being able to truck defenders like a Mack truck.. Then we are talking about the next faster version of Rob Gronkowski. That hopefully doesn't get injured as much. I mean it would basically make him better than Jordan Reed or any other Tight end right now If he can come right in and do his thing. If he's on the board I hope we rush to the podium. Having two tight ends go to the pro bowl next year would be the first time in NFL history that's ever happened. Would be pretty sweet!
