OJ Howard: The Beast from Bama

Not that I think Olsen would be the type of player to get pissed off by something like this but I would only be ok with it if he gave it his blessing. Because taking a TE top ten even if you plan to use a lot of two TE sets would be a huge warning shot to arguably our best player on offense.

Why warning shot? Do you think Gronk has felt bad that NE always goes after TEs?

My exactly.

OJ is gonna be a monster.  Maybe trade down acquire more picks get OJ in the teens.  Trade #8 to Browns for #12 and #33 pick.  Pick up OJ at #12 and still great talent at top of 2nd with picks #1 and #8 in 2nd.

BoOm!

I really like this idea.  Grab OJ at 12, then maybe pop back into the late first with the 33 and our comp and grab McCaffrey.  Then grab the inevitable falling but first round graded DE or Obi at 40.  Hood in the fifth, Switzer in the 6th and our offensive transformation is complete with weapons everywhere.

Normally you wouldn't get a #33 pick for moving from 8 to 12.  A team would have to be desperate..

Based on the old draft value chart you are probably looking at around a mid 3rd.

Yes, the more this thing goes on the more I'm not seeing Fournette, Adams, and Thomas even close to be there pick #8.  We know the teams like the Browns at 12, Cardinals at 13 Philly at 14 are more than willing to trade up to grab "There guys" we know Cleveland will most like take Garrett but then could take their QB at 8.  Philly could jump everyone and take Cook at 8. Cardinals could take some DL help sense losing Campbell.  Makes a lot of sense for us to go down to high teens and take OJ which would be awesome.  Pick up another 2nd or 3rd.

Im on this OJ train now boys.

Do they draft those guys top 10? Also Gronk is hurt like all the time so investing heavily in a backup makes more sense. Olsen plays almost 100% of our snaps. Again not saying he would have an issue but I would like the front office to at least ask just in case.

Understand your point but really don't agree with it. Olsen has never been the Me first player. Do you think TD got upset when we got Shaq? Do you think KK and Star got upset when we got Butler?

Your theory doesn't really fit the MO of Olsen IMO.

At this point I'm all aboard the O.J Howard train.

Make a 2 TE set the base offense. If a defense comes out with 5 defensive backs then run it down their throat and use play action off of the run. If a defense comes out with 4 defensive backs then spread out Olsen/Howard and let them go to work in their routes on LBs/Safeties.
