Marvel's Iron Fist getting bad reviews

Ok, I watched, let's talk about this.   Spoilers ofc.

It wasn't good.   It wasn't mad.     This show may be the most deserving of the "meh" title ever.  I wasn't mad I watched it, but I wasn't happy.    The acting, mostly, was pretty rough minus Rosario Dawson (thank you).    

The worst part of this show?  Iron Fist himself.    The casting is terrible.    Firstly, I just don't think this actor is any good.   I wonder if they got this guy just because he's from Game of Thrones?  I'm not sure.    I think they could have done much better and this may be Marvel's worst casting choice ever.    Secondly, why can't Iron Fist have been Asian like the comics?   I usually don't care about switching races (even didn't care that Human Torch was played by a black guy because Michael B. Jordan is great).  But in THIS CASE, it makes sense.    Not only to the story, but Marvel's chance of getting an Asian character hero into their universe.  Anyway, they failed, and not only because of non-Asian actor, but because this guy is just not good.

So immediately dude comes back and talks about how he was taught to harness and have no emotions.  Cool, well, no.   The guy has more emotions than anyone.   It just didn't make sense, at all.     I get he'll have some, obviously, but they took it way too far.  

So past the actor and the "meh" way they handled the story-line, the action was just not good.    I at last expected some sick action and creative fight scenes, did they not have the Daredevil guys?    The fighting was pretty meh, honestly, Arrow has outdid this show many times and that's a low budget CW show.    Colleen had the best scenes and those were good but the Iron Fist ones, were totally boring.

I think the show started well, it had me, but the second half was bad.  Too much (bad) drama and attention to the Meachems.    Lack of good villains that plague most Marvel shows/movies that aren't called Daredevil/Jessica Jones.    

I understand his training wasn't complete, but guy looked totally unprepared.   Davos looked more skilled.    Minus the the cool hand-quake in the end, Fist did hardly anything better than most of the other fighters.     I get the guy is basically a 10-year old emotionally, but he comes in as if he's been trained for 15 years but looks like the worst student they probably had.

I think it would have been a better story for him to go to that school and not realize it was the Hand for some episodes, and get trained up there, maybe more middle of the story, then build up that new villain and the story. 

Overall, like I said, it wasn't bad, it wasn't good, but I'm definitely disappointed.     I hope Defenders does things better but I'm a little worried.

No, I promise not.   I have liked everything Marvel.   Don't get me confused with that one dude who hates everything Marvel lol.   I don't even hate it, but it's not "good".    I don't think it's even close to 86% good either.    72% of audiences love Twilight too, but that doesn't mean it's good lol.    I think this was the worst tv/movie Marvel has done (since they took over making their own stuff).     It's still very much watchable though.

It suffers from having to tie up all the other shows into the Defenders. I'd say opinions would change a lot after the defenders.

Im pretty sure he was white as a ghost in the comics bro

No he was, I guess what I really mean is, when the comics were written it was inspired by Kung-Fu tv show, a half white/half Chinese, and I think they wanted the character to be Asian but didn't because well it was mid-70's.     I think it would have worked better to do the original plan for the new show.   At the very least, if they kept with strictly white, they could have found a better actor.

But the show isn't bad at all, worth a watch, I just think they missed an opportunity.   Though it's possible he'll be a better character when mixed in with Defenders.

If Sonny was a bit younger, he would have been a great Iron Fist.   Maybe still could have played him honestly....
