I don't get the eagerness to push Stewart out the door just yet.

If he goes he goes, but it would be a gamble considering the state of our OL. Even if we manage to upgrade the OL sufficiently, guys are still going to need time to gel. If we don't have an RB ready to take on the task, we might just see a repeat of last season with our franchise QB in the turf more than the end zone.

If we cut him, and it works out, great, but if not I'm not looking forward to the potential of another wasted season.

Can't keep making the same stupid mistakes shooting ourselves in the foot guys.

I wouldn't say it is eagerness on my part. I think it is more of a "we might have to" if we do go heavy in the FA dept. and/or get a young RB like Fournette.

Heck, I've said before and it is still true, but we could cut Stewart and sign someone like Latavius Murray and have a million left over in the bank. That million could go to a 3rd round RB to pair with Murray and we'd have two good RBs for what keeping Stew would cost.

Other things I don't know if anyone noticed yet or that came up when I did this.

Gradkowski could be on the bubble. He'll save us close to a million if we cut him. People seem high on Tyler Larsen, and I highly doubt we carry three centers.

Andy Lee, I think, could be gone. He saves us a lot of money, and the fact that we tendered Palardy kind of tells me something is up there. I doubt we'd pay a guy almost 2 million just to come in and compete. Maybe they know more about Lee's injury than we know?

Dickson is gone, which leaves us pretty weak behind Olsen. I obviously think we're going to add one in the draft.

Love me some JJ Jansen but he is at least a $500k drain on salary. Can we not sign a cheap OL to long snap? $1M for a long snapper that does nothing else is a waste of money.

He's usually one of the first guys down there on coverage IIRC. He's worth it. Probably one of the best in the league.

I didn't mean you necessarily, more general consensus amongst fans.

Look if there's one thing going from 15-1 with a SB appearance to 6-10 has shown me, it's not to just expect things to happen. Nobody expected us to be as good as we were in 2015 when Benjamin went down. If we move on from Stewart, and draft or find another RB who runs all over the league I would be thrilled. But it seems more beautiful dream than actual reality as things sit right now with the state of our OL.

Personally I would make every possible move to upgrade the OL, and then focus my attention on RB. Cart before the horse, and all.
