Maybe so but still seems that letting both go would have been the better option. They have choices in FA and the draft at WR. We need more speed there.

By not tendering them, they technically did "let them go". My guess would be Bersin's agent came back with a minimal offer and they took him up on it.

And they still have those same choices in free agency and the draft. Signing Bersin doesn't negate any of those things.

If Buffalo was the other team I'd take a poo ton less money to stay here for sure.

Watkins can't even reach his potential there but the #s he has in that situation is nothing short of a miracle.

Speaking of....damn it'd be nice to have Sammy here dood is still only 23.

Lol at the lot who's vocal about Mario Williams' drive but applauds Gettlemen & Rivera for still holding on to Oher and his myriad of low level FAs he's ran through since being here.

Mario with KK, Star, Addison would be nothing short of epic.

On the resigning of CJ... Meh I knew it was coming, but if this make Gettles content like last season with our front 7 I'm mailing it in.

Holy crap why are so many people upset with this? Please find a free agent with his run stopping ability/QB hurries for less than 5 million per year.

I wouldn't say I'm upset with this.

I wouldn't have done it, but I'm not screaming about it.

was hoping we would move on from him but I guess he can help the young DEs we bring in. I don't see him starting anymore

While has hasn't had the sack numbers the last few years, he has still been our most consistent DE. His leadership is also needed.

We pretty much shored all our important FAs already. Love it.

Pretty nice to see CJ loving Charlotte. Good for him, as he's an important Vet for our team. Whether you like it or not, he pretty much played like a Jared Allen 2.0 on our team, with slightly better production. Although injuries obviously hampered him, he has been pretty solid last year, and would've been paid big bucks on the market.

This pretty much shores up all our offseason concerns, so we can enter free agency without worrying about filling a hole one of our guys leave.

Common sense move.  Johnson will be relegated to more of a third down role as the season goes on, especially if we draft a DE early or Ealy finally breaks out.  EIther way, the DE market was thin this year and we needed to keep our guys

    • his height, size and arm will forever cause problems and limitations...that is what it is.  I think to a degree, the law of averages is just coming into play a bit with him.  So as he plays more and more, you just flat out get the decent days mixed in too.  Which is just going to happen.
    • Good point. He's definitely better in 10-15 yards. I think that's his biggest improvement. But he wasn't 3-10 +15, he was 3-7, with at least one drop (minor but still). And with multiple passes at 14 yards completed. This passing chart doesn't look like at By one, lol. He threw more "deep" passes than Mahomes (NOT comparing him to Mahomes in a skill way lol), or at least more beyind 10 yards.
    • Karlaftis and Danna have been pretty inconsistent so teams have been doubling Jones and able to contain their pass rush.   But the good thing is that yesterday, we schemed well against Steve Spags Defense, Canales married the surrounding personnel with his QB through play designs within his comfort zone and was able to get downfield at will.  He was able to execute higher difficulty throws and look a lot more comfortable.  It tells me that Canales has a good system in mind, and had an edge gameplanning wise against Spagnuolo - which is nice to see.  It's a bit to see-saw at times with either going way too pass heavy or way too run heavy, but I think he's finding out what works.  It takes time to have it come together, and sure, I could see regression happen against a better front-7, but this was good for the entire system gelling.
