CJ BACK! Charles Johnson Signs A Two Year Deal; $9.5 Million - Turned Down More Money Elsewhere Again

Man some of these thread comments make me glad that many here don't have their say as the GM. Addison is still unproven to a degree as an every down DE. Sure he will see more PT, but bringing back Horton and Johnson for just over 4 million a season are solid moves.

Addison, Lotulelei, Short, and Johnson is still a very good and versatile starting group, Ealy, Butler, Horton, and a day two or three rookie continues to solidify a good front, and valuable depth.

I could also see Ealy getting more reps at LE where he saw most of his success when Allen was playing the RE position when Johnson was hurt.

This is a good move, sacks are great, but guys who generate pressure, and force the QB to release the ball sooner are also important, he's still one of our best at ''pressuring'' the quarterback.

CJ actually put together a decent season last year.
Keeping him here is huge. Vet presence a locker room guy. A lot of players respect him, he is really close with Richardson (have seen him post stuff multiple time with his son and Jerry on IG). Its about keeping that core intact and build around it.
Plus no way youd find a vet to put here cheaper (see the Gholston reference in Tampa)
You think this is high, Pep wouod cost this a min possibly more.

Hence:

" Yea that's how this whole no back to back winning seasons thing works "

But I do remember Panther Fans and their one good year here and there. Before it was the OTHER SB appearance people kept referencing till it was a decade later and now it's the 15-1 season until that one day probably in the distance future that we have another one.

But yea bruhs we made it to TWO SBs now yay.

And lost both.

Oh well Clemson got it for me now for now.

Haven't looked, but I would've moved on from him last year, honestly.  The DE position has been a weak spot for two years running now.

Like I said to Arsen....go check out the list and get back to us. It's slim picking over there bro. Especially at ~$4

Oh I know but letting Brown go for Bersin was not a good sign.

Not really what happened, though.

The team actually didn't tender either player. Bersin went ahead and re-signed for less money. Philly (apparently) has a deal with someone else.

Bersin's deal isn't big enough to prevent us from signing or re-signing anyone else, and he's far from a lock to make the roster.

They didn't really choose either one.

I'd rather draft a rookie than pay $5m to someone who average 2.5 sacks over the last 2 years.  Dumb move
