It wasn't the exact same guys I hate blanket statements like this. No norman , penut, harper , and oline injured , cam injured, even the players that WERE on that team either got injured or performed worse than 2015, or both.

We'll we're also not going to have the same guys who made us 6-10. So for the purpose of his comment we were referring to these players that were resigned that were on both teams

CJ earned a grade of 81.4 last year and signed for significantly less than Gholston did for the Bucs.

He's a captain on the team, provides good run D, and is an adequate pass rusher. I think this is a hell of a deal considering what the market for defensive ends is now.

Thanks for the perspective! I just don't know what some people want...I guess something for nothing. Nowhere in free agency would we get someone of CJ's quality and experience for a relative pittance. "The draft," you say. Well, here's the thing: You use FA to set up the draft in order to put yourself in the position to take the BPA. Of course signing CJ and Addison is part of that process. Without them, we are "stuck like Chuck," just like last season with the CB position. Moreover, CJ is still an above average DE, unlike what some are trying to push here.

I love it!

I have no problem giving CJ this deal.  His loyalty is unparalleled and honestly rare at this day and age in sports.  My problem is us still trying to make him an every down player, when he's not anymore.  Still think he can be a very very effective backup, and he'd fuging take a bullet for anyone in that lockerroom.  Great leader

That's more money that I'm comfortable with, tbh. Not discounting his value but I fear we're keeping him one year too long.

we dont know how much is guaranteed that 2nd year. Id be totally OK with the contract if say its 5.5 million this year with 3.5 of it guaranteed and 4 million the next season with 1 million in guarantees, that way if he really struggles this season we can cut bait and will only be on the hook for a million or even less.

That was two years ago dude.  This is 2017 now.  Changes have to be made.

You guys are hilarious with your "that was two years ago" but then "last year we were 6-10 so we gotta sign all the players I want"

Team sports aren't always about signings. Sometimes it's keeping the team together. I'll make you a bet right now we win more than 10 games next year.

Gman knows what he's doing, I promise. He does this for a career after all.
