Panthers Have Tendered Andrew Norwell, Tyler Larsen and Michael Palardy

Norwell is good in our system, but in another scheme, he may not be as good.  I think he will sign for around $9m (total guess).  Larsen will be the starting center in 2018, (an educated guess) so he needs to be locked up now, not later.  He was terrific at the end of the season.

Norwell is a bargain at the 2.75 million tender amount. Things will get interesting if someone signs him to an offer sheet.

I know, and it is not as simple as it sounds.  We have big money headed toward our DTs, and Tre Turner will be paid at the top of the scale..  If we get Norwell for $2.75m, great.  If someone makes an offer, could we let him go for a second rounder?  I think (depending on the G market in the draft) it could be a financially necessary move if you look long term.  I hope not because I really like Norwell.  We can all relate to him--like we did Hoover, I think.

11th ranked G guys...easily replaceable.

Def not worth 3 mil.

Top overall grade: LG Andrew Norwell, 85.7 (No. 11)

Top pass-blocking grade: LG Andrew Norwell, 85.2 (No. 14)

Top run-blocking grade: LG Andrew Norwell, 84.8 (No. 4)

Just get rid of all of our best players...fug it we don't even need a team....what's next trade Cam to Cleveland for their two 1sts and 33rd overall?

You're Norwell's agent, aren't you?

Poke fun all you want, but my first post was that I cared about Norwell's tender.

I want to keep him, especially on the cheap, but if someone is going to give us a 2nd rounder for him, I will take it. Sorry. Getting younger and saving money, while likely getting better? Count me in.

We were 6-10.  Everyone likes Norwell, but guard is not a position where smart teams should invest significant funds and premium picks.  A 2nd rounder in this deep draft is a premium pick.

Norwell is really good and I'm all in favor of extending him, but for people that think he and Turner are going to be extended on the same pay scale need to chiiilllllll. We can extend Norwell for much cheaper and IF he is demanding what Turner will and should demand, then @Bronn is right, we can find someone else.

That being said, great move by Gettleman to lock him up for this season at a cheap price tag and high cost to other teams.

We were 6-10 with a poo OL because of the T's. You don't replace your great middle 3 without answers on the outside first. It'd be a little different if we had a franchise LT or even a solid RT. Introducing more questions along our worst units isn't something a smart team does either. 3 mil is good for him and isn't significant funding anyway.

Andrew Norwell would be a 2nd rounder in this draft if he was in it, he is the premium pick. Who would be better? Lamp/Johnson...probably the same and they'd be your 2nd rounders. Rather have the proven.

He was an elite prospect coming out (looks like Scout was right) and had a great college career, like Alex Boone before him at OSU the pros missed this one due to athleticism concerns.

Hypothetical-the aggressive, desperate, OL needy Vikings give up 48 for him.  We trade 40 and 48 to the Titans at 18 for Ramczyk, the top LT in the draft, our new franchise LT for 5 years on a rookie salary.

I'd take that over paying Norwell and drafting at 40.

If you've gotten yourself a bushel of bad apples, you're going to look for the best looking one to eat first.

That's why Norwell has looked so good. It is because everyone else around him has been so bad.

That said, I maintain that he is a solid rotational guy that can start if he has to. He was undrafted coming out of college, and has been coached up to his size. The year we went to the Superb Owl, he had Oher, Kalil, and Turner around him, making things a whole lot easier. This let him grow even more, and look even better.

I want to keep Norwell. I don't want to pay him more than $4-5 million a year though, because I don't think he's worth that. So if some team gives us their second for him, I would take it and move on. Chance Warmack or Ronald Leary say hello.
