FA Spending Vs Wins

The best teams draft well and find the right FAs at the right price.  What's also interesting would be too look at Stable QB situations versus wins.  If you have an above average NFL starter, then you can be competitive. If you don't, you stink.

Jacksonville and Denver are clearly outliers, so you'd probably want to remove them from this equation.

so in conclusion, the less you spend, the more you win.

looks like Dave is on to something.

You're reading the graph incorrectly. All 12 playoff teams (excluding GB who is tied with us) are all above us in the investment chart, including the last 3 Super Bowl winners (not including New England this season apparently, who would still be higher in that regard)

There's really no other way to spin it: the Panthers are going to have to spend more money if they want to win a super bowl.

you're correct. I shouldn't have said "the less you spend, the more you win" but in reality, you don't have to break the bank in free agency to be a playoff contender. GB, Pit, Cinci, Sea, and Minny are all right there with us in FA spending and are all playoff caliber teams on a yearly basis.

but overall, DG has the right approach. Spend efficiently and effectively in free agency, draft smart, keep your team out of CAP trouble every year so that you have enough money to resign the proven commodities of your draft class every year after their rookie contracts expire.
