Did Steve Smith lose you after he bashed the organization that stood by him after punching two teammates in the face. The same guy who helped destroy Jimmy Clausen's development and refused to ever take a rookie WR under his wing?

Did Captain Munnerlyn lose you when he called out Devin Funchess and the rest of team last season?

Did Muhsin Muhammad lose you after he left the Bears after his best season ever over a few million dollars ?

I wish someone could explain this to me.

suck it up.

Well he played more years with the Panthers than the Bears and Packers combined. So not happening. I cannot wait for the row of statues to be Mills, McCormick, Smith, and Peppers. This fan base is going to lose their minds.

You think he is at statue level???  Really?  Or are you just trying to make a point?

Peppers will never get a statue in Carolina smh

I wouldn't say never to anything,  but it would take some ... inspired Disney/Babe Ruth/28-3 type sh#$#$ for it to happen to Peppers...

He's absolutley statue level but also trying to make a point. He's the best player in Panther history. Sam Mills and Steve Smith were more important, but Peppers is the best. He made the All-Decade team while with the Panthers. He will be a first ballot HOFer who played a majority of his career in Carolina. He will be the first Panther player ever to have played a majority of his career in Carolina to make the HOF.

if he comes back for another season or 2 and jumps up into the top 3 behind Reggie  White and Bruce Smith, then there is no doubt in my mind he will have both a statue and his number retired. Scott Fowler who is very close to Richardson, came out with an article recently stating the same thing.

I highly doubt there will be an empty stadium that day when it happens.

I think there is too much of a cloud over Peppers. Not gonna argue on whether or not statistically he or Smitty is our best player.

He will always have that cloud of did he give it his all.

Sam Mills without a doubt.

Steve Smith, say what you want about his attitude he gave 100% at all times.

Can't say that about Peppers and a lot of people feel that way.  BTW I still have my Julius Peppers jersey in the closet so if he comes back , cool I can put it back in rotation.

So add the fact that he disappeared in a lot of big games.   Left us when it seemed like we were offering a comparable contract.  Did not spend a majority of his career here (although that due to longevity).

Good player?  yes. 1 of top DE of his generation?  Sure thing. I mean he showed more emotion throwing the football away after Cam's touchdown than he has when he played here.

If we ever do a park like the Yankees.  Then yes, Peppers will get a plaque, or a bust.  But a statue?   It aint happening.  Not because he wasn't great,  but because he was never as great as everyone thought he should be.

Tou bring up valid points, but I find it funny how people constantly bring up this effort thing. The guy has been in the league for 16 seasons and has kept himself in outstanding shape. I cannot see how that would be possible if he didn't love football or give constant effort.

I'll use Terrell Owens as an example of why.  TO should have been a first ballot no thought about it HOF player.  However, his attitude (unfairly) is keeping him out so far.  Peoples opinion of you will trump in football.  Jay Cutler is probably a top 15 QB as far as talent, but his attitude makes him stink to high heaven.  That's JP is a nutshell, he never really seemed to care. Probably did, most likely did... but it never seemed that way.

In totality JP has a better career so far then lets say Luke.  But who would get a statue if there was choice between them?

Julius Peppers has HOF talent.  Was the best player on our team for several years.  But his lack of emotion coupled with the games he disappeared in, will always color peoples opinions of him. Maybe if he plays here, finishes strong (Superbowl win) then maybe.  But to say right now he would get a statue?  It won't happen.

    • I don't know about you but I have been a life long Chiefs fan for the past 4 years.
    • Sure there's a ton of transplants in Colorado now. But as far as Denver in particular goes the Broncos have also been around for 65 years. Someone moving to Denver is going to be far more likely to become a fan of the Broncos and even attend games versus someone moving to Charlotte and the Panthers. Like I said it's not just one single thing with us it's multiple factors.
    • He's definitely getting better. It's fun to watch.  I've been getting killed for this take, but with the current state of college football, it just takes more time to develop a quarterback. I don't think it's a plug and play position anymore. I'm really not sure if it ever was. NFL offenses have always been substantially more complex than the college game, and the college game has simplified even more in recent years. Many college teams do not have a physical playbook anymore. That's just not the national football league.  Are there freaks who have success from day 1? Yes, without question. But so many of those guys are runners, and so many of those guys tail off. Is Bryce ever going to be Josh Allen? Probably not.  What I am seeing is a guy with complete command of the offense. He's checking into things at the line, making adjustments, and making timely throws.  He goes to David Moore a ton, because Moore is a consistent route runner. Bryce knows where he is and when he should be open. I think the guy with the "super processor" needs to be comfortable in the offense in order to do the "super processing." He doesn't have elite arm talent, and he is small of stature, but if he makes the smart play consistently, and he's willing to throw the ball downfield and not make mistakes, like he's starting to show, he's going to be a starter for a long time in this league, and it's not a position I'd spend draft capital right now.
