I've actually never heard of liquid aminos.

It's a zero calorie soy sauce alternative and tastes just like it. I believe it has zero sodium as well. Great with the chili.

Also wife makes brown rice and chicken broccoli fried rice style with the liquod aminos. Tastes really good.

Another product to try are Walden farms prodcuts which has a lot of zero calorie products like pancake syrup and ranch sauce.

I'm on day 13 of the Whole30 "diet". In that time I've probably put more hours in the kitchen than I have in the past six months. It's for real work, but damn if we aren't making some good food and saving a lot of money.

I know it sounds cliché, but the biggest thing I've found to eating right throughout the day is to have a really good breakfast. Get your protein, veggies, fruit in so you'll be full all the way until lunch. What I'm doing doesn't recommend snacking on anything until lunch, because ideally you should be full enough from breakfast. This spinach frittata is on point, http://spark45.com/?p=308 . You can also make it Mexican style, which is what I had this morning. Just sub cilantro, diced tomatoes and seasoned ground meat.

The key is to prep everything the night before, not matter what meal you're doing. Dice the veggies, slice the fruit, cut the chicken so all you have to do is throw it on the pan. I'll add some of the best recipes I've found so far later.

I love some Mexican food, so lately one of my favorites is baked organic chicken breast with homemade taco seasoning, guac, and homemade salsa.

For the seasoning I used this recipe:

Just mix all that together in a bowl and you're all set.

Set oven to 400: Season the chicken with the mix and bake for ten minutes, then flip and bake for another 15. The chicken should be perfect, if it's very thick it might need a few more minutes.

For the Guac, mash three avocados with juice of one lime and salt, then mix in diced onions, tomatoes, cilantro, minced garlic clove and jalapenos if you like it spicy. I just use a handful of diced onions and tomatoes, and about a palm size portion of diced cilantro. I could eat this guacamole straight out of the bowl. Delicious.

For the salsa dice 6 small tomatoes, or 3 large tomatoes. Add about half of a diced onion, juice of one lime, a few minced garlic cloves, a little salt and cilantro. Gently mix it all together and you're done.

The chicken, guac and salsa combo is legit. Healthy, filling and good for leftovers the next day. You can also use the leftover guac and salsa with eggs the next morning for breakfast.

edit: I probably should add more veggies to this next time I make it. I'd probably add a roasted red or green pepper for good measure.

Going back to those oatmeal tacos I was telling you about:

This is how home made tortillas look like. Once you're done making the oatmeal tortillas, you can put chicken or ground turkey, add onions and salsa and it's pretty darn good.

Were you one of the other people on here cooking sous vide? I cook all of my chicken sous vide now and use my oven for roasting vegetables.

No that's the first I've heard of that method.

Check out this site: https://www.chefsteps.com/

Sous vide cooking lends itself really well to marinades because you immerse the chicken in a bag into a hot water bath with circulating water. I can cook 4-5 bags of chicken in 4-5 separate marinades at the same time in the same pot. I used a marinade similar to the one you posted, a couple of weeks ago to make chicken nachos. While it looks funny on the outside when it's done cooking, on the inside it's perfectly white, juicy and flavorful. You never run the risk of drying it out from baking it too long, and you can leave it in the water for up to an hour after it's finished cooking without overcooking it. That's a big help when you're prepping other items.

I originally purchased it to make steaks and poached eggs. I've cooked every meat other than shellfish and while it does a good job on the others, I think it's the perfect tool for chicken. It even tastes better reheated, it never gets that rubbery texture that ruins a good prepped meal sometimes.

The site has great tips on roasting vegetables as well.

Breakfast- Piece of fruit or whole wheat toast with jelly

Lunch- Tomato soup or veggie sandwich or salad

Pre-work out supp

Dinner- Some sort of vegetarian meal typcially under 500 calories

This is where the day turns. Fight going to sleep because I'm bored and need more fun in my life. Either i will give in and go to bed OR eat enormous amounts of candy or cookies and sometimes wine and then wake up feeling guilty as hell. Rinse and repeat.

I'm in a rut and got to fix it.

Can you move your workout to early in the morning? I guarantee you'll have no trouble going to sleep at night once you've done a couple of days of 5:30 AM workouts. We just started back this week. It's a slog, but it's worth it.

I'd love to be able to work out in the mornings. I wake up at 5:45 already just to get the kiddo and myself out the door. I've considered waking up earlier and working out but the work out room is right next to the kids bedroom. Maybe i'm making excuses. I should at least try it once.

Jocko Willink is a retired Navy SEAL who has a podcast a lot of my friends follow. He's a big proponent of waking up to workout at 4:30 every morning. If your daily schedule will allow for you getting to bed by 9PM every night, then I think it's probably doable for you. Try it for a week and if your kid's not sabotaging your alarm clock by Friday, it might be a good fit for you. It would definitely take care of the restlessness at night, haha.

get you some minty chewing gum for after dinner. the chewing will distract you and the minty flavor in your mouth does not make sweets as appealing. at least this works for me. I'm the same way after dinner.

or you could get those dessert flavored chewing gums to take the edge off. I can't eat any foods or drinks after chewing minty gum, it grosses me out.

Totally worth a try. It's simple and cheap.
