Sounds like they won't bring Johnson back. Someone on here pointed out that he had a ton of missed tackles, which is probably the reason he fell out of favor with them. He was certainly better than any other option last year, but think they want to upgrade.

Per Rivera, the team actually wants to pull back on that kind of thing but he expects Newton to "fight him" on it.

Honestly to me that says more about Rivera than Newton. A headstrong football player is not exactly a new concept. But when's the last time you remember reading about a player "fighting' Belichick on a coaching decision.

Totally agree! I think that's why DG didn't push for a change. He knows another season like last year and he can bring in his own coach.

This is the issue I've always had with "player's coaches." It's like parents who think they can be their child's"friend" trying to suddenly reassert the authority they've abdicated.

We've been down the rabbit hole of overly examining sideline/stadium body language so many times, and through different teams.

Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers are known for throwing tantrums on the sideline, and at the end of the day it means squat long term.

I mean, if you want to go down this road, why even blame Newton?

Was it Newton that decided to hire Dorsey to be his QB coach with literally zero coaching experience at any level?

Hell, at least when we hired Shula, he had experience coaching a quarterback.

Cam needs to improve. No poo. But this sudden outrage when nobody said a f*cking thing about this last year when I was talking about the issue of hiring a QB coach with no experience like 3 years ago just reeks of selective outrage, and misdirected anger.

Plus why would Ron want to hire an "up and coming OC" that could want to replace him if poo hits the fan. A lot easier to keep a HC when no one can replace him.

Bro....this isn't about blaming Newton. This is about blaming coaches who don't seem to be able to be tough with their mega star when they need to be. This is why they're "yes men". Seems to be some implications that they're doing a bad job stepping up to him and coaching him up. 

Edit: And even badass QBs who pretty much single-handily willed a team to the SB still needs to be coached up.
