Well holy shlt!  Actually Ray Porter is my wife's Dad.  Sum bitch just got a contract with the Israeli Defense and is set to supply them with all of their new and replacement carrier bolts.  Don't think he got along too well with James or Bud.  When you pass Emory on the left you turn onto his road about 2 miles after that at a stop light with a small gas station a greasy spoon.  Wind down that road about a mile and his mansion is on the left with a big formal driveway with brick and stucco.  Horses, barn, big white two-story.  I knew I got along with you for some reason.  You know/knew Bryan Causby or Christine Avery?

Yeah, Bud was a great guy but he could be a real son of a bitch sometimes. He was a yankee, after all. LOL!

Pretty sure you're talking about either Spainhour Rd or Watermill Rd. I went to elementary school right there at Oak Hill. A good buddy of mine was killed at that gas station back in '03 or so.

Can't say either of those two names sound familiar. Is Christine Avery kin to Waightstill?

Who's Bryan Causby? I might know one who works in Lincoln and probably lives in Watauga

Yeah, can't say I recognize it, but it's been at least 15 years since I've been down Spainhour Road, if not longer. I'm always hanging a left there to head up 126. My dad's side of the family all live right there at the mouth of the Linville Gorge. My family has been holding down that chunk of the county for longer than this country has existed. This is the grave of my many times great grandfather.

Lived in Aurora, CO.  Bastards spit on me in my Blues getting off a bus.  Called me a baby killer in 1992.  I think that was a VN thing but whatthehell.  Other than that, Denver was the cleanest damn place I ever lived.

Denver is a different world now. Unbelievable how fast things are growing. I live up in Evergreen. Been here since '07. We bought our current house back in the spring. Next door house sold a few months ago for $40k more than we paid. House three doors down just sold for $80k more than we paid. All three houses are similar in terms of size, lot, etc. That's just the way things are going out here right now. I could have a literal goddamn mansion back in western NC for what we paid. I could buy our house all day long for $150k back in the Morganton area. Not even sure it'd go for that much.

Did he work for James Tool back in the late '90s? '98, '99ish? The name doesn't come to mind immediately, but if he did then I know him.

Same with mine in Bartow County Georgia.  Did the ancestry thing and found out that although I was born as like the 4th generation in Georgia my relatives before that came from Mecklenburg, NC.  Every time I told some putz with the last name Allen that I wasn't related to him I probably lied.

I would feel bad but dildos.

And the draft.  Plus John Kilgo and Marc James.

Don't you miss NC?

lol

Ah, Huntersville.

I lived in Birkdale Village right before moving out to Colorado. Would walk my ass down to Brixx Pizza every Tuesday night when they did $2 drafts and get properly shitfaced and stagger back home. It was nice being 23 years old.

LinGor,

Brother, I grew up in so many different places.  My Mom and Dad's house in Azusa, CA that they bought in 1971 for $28000 just sold for $658000.

Sell your damn house and move back to the promised land and pocket $100000.  If you get bored...head for Monterey, CA.

I've told my wife that I figure we have about five years left in CO before we cash in our chips and head back east. Hopefully by that point we'll have enough equity built up to buy a nice place for cash back there and be living mortgage free under the age of 40. Mortgage free living at that age is pretty damn close to having he equivalent of "fug you money". If we can get to that point, I can't pass that up. It'd be nice to be back closer to family, especially now that we have a kid. My wife is ready to go whenever I'm willing to toss in the towel. I just love the damn mountains too much. I figure that when I move back it'll be to the Asheville or Boone area. To hell with CA, I could never live there. Usually head to the L.A. area once a year for work. Been to SF area several times. Been to Yosemite, Tahoe, etc. Beautiful country, but nah, CA ain't for me. Now, NW Wyoming, western Montana, Idaho? Yeah, let's go. I'll never convince my wife to do it though. Hell, I love Alaska but I don't think I could ever live there. I don't think you could ever truly get used to that type of darkness in the winter unless you grew up in it.

This is where I grew up, folks still live there.

    • I just remembered that they said Mike Evans problem was he took plays off in the NFL. I remember the season that Jameis Winston threw 30 INTs that the announcer was talking a lot of crap about Evans taking plays off.    Evans still put up over 1,000 yards that season and had 8 TDs.   I say that because Evans is the guy who Tet is always compared to. I think even if he does take plays off then he will still probably be decent. Hopefully the whole “takes plays off” is blown out of proportion and he balls out.
    • I invested way too much time in it and then couldn't find the exact map.  Similar one shows they pretty much can go to Columbia and up to VA which aligns w/ their local visits.   Then then encounter "micropolitan areas" going westward that would cut them off I think trying to get into western south and north Carolina. Seems like a certain mile radius would make the most sense.  Got to think some areas like the Northeast teams could take advantage of a lot more schools.    Players who attend college or reside in a club’s “metropolitan area” can be given a physical examination without counting against the 30-player limit, unless the club provides transportation for the visit. Also, a player who attends college or whose hometown is in a club’s “metropolitan area” may be timed and tested at the club’s facility, as long as the club does not provide transportation. “Metropolitan area” is defined as contiguous suburbs. There isn’t a 25-mile, 50-mile, or any other type of mileage radius rule. The league office uses the 2011 Rand-McNally Road Atlas to determine the metropolitan area of a city.
