Via Joe Person & the Observer:

Quote

Addison, who led the Panthers with 9.5 sacks last season and has 15.5 over the past two seasons, received a three-year extension worth $22.5 million, with $11.25 million guaranteed.

Addison will count $1 million against the cap this season, with cap figures of $5.5 million in 2018 and $5.75 million in 2019.

Horton, who became a starter shortly after returning to the Panthers in October, signed a two-year contract worth $2.7 million, with $425,000 guaranteed.

Horton’s cap numbers are $775,000 this year and $900,000 in 2018.

Silatolu, the Panthers’ second-round pick in 2012, came back to Carolina on a 1-year deal worth $855,000, with only $50,000 in guarantees. Silatolu will count $615,000 against the cap.

Wow, very surprised that the tag number for Oline is 14 million +.  I guess in reality that is just for LTs.  It would never make sense to tag a center, guard or RT for that amount!

Seems odd that they lump all the Oline together under one tag figure given the huge discrepancy in salaries for the different positions on the line.

Wow that's not a minimum contract that Horton got........ Plus those cap numbers for Addison seem off too.

Horton's contract not tiny, but he was a starting DE for us by late in the season.  I'm ok with it, especially if we don't re-sign CJ.   Not a lot guaranteed.  If we find someone better we cut him and move on...

Re: Addison, it seems like the signing bonus is not reported, I think it was something like 9.25 million or such... so add that in and you get the true numbers.  Just have to see how it's spread out.  Hopefully Spotrac will have the updated numbers tomorrow.,

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Bengals will re-sign free agent LT Andrew Whitworth.

Beat reporter Paul Dehner suggests it's already a done deal. Whitworth is the best tackle available this offseason but it sounds like the Bengals will keep him from hitting the market. Re-signing Whitworth means free agent RG Kevin Zeitler likely won't be back.
