Eric Berry doesn't expect long-term extension with Chiefs

We also have about 15 free agents, and Eric Berry is more of a luxury rather than fixing a position of need.

A move that makes sense going hard for is Cyprien, whom PFF graded the same as Berry. He's a SS that will fill in our need, Berry really isn't.

yeah lets keep everyone from a 6-10 team. Makes sense.

fug PFF. Ok I don't necessarily dispute their grades or have anything bad to say about their work at all but some of you religiously believe whatever that site sputes. Eye test > PFF grades. Berry > Cyprien.

Not saying Berry isn't talented, just saying there's a solid guy that others see similar to Berry at a position of need.

People will justify something like this with PFF grades one minute and then bash it for making someone look bad the next.

I also think that maybe if Berry's character is true, he could come here for less for a chance to win.

DG wants to build the front 7 . We are more likely to go after a pass rusher than a safety . Get pressure up front consistently and the safety position becomes less important. This is the Gettleman way.

I agree and adding a safety like Hyde instead of Berry makes more sense with how DG looks to build the defense!

People would bash him for thinking Carolina has a better chance at a championship than KC. But he knows whats really good.

What are you talking about? How does Cyrprien fill a need and Berry doesn't? They're both strong safeties.

Cyprien isn't even in the same league as Berry. Cyrprien's PFF grade is only close to Berry's because Jacksonville REALLY limited Cyprien's coverage duties (because he struggles in coverage) and basically kept him as a in-box safety.

Where as Berry led the Chiefs secondary with his 'coverage grade'. Berry is one hell of an athlete and can cover any tight end in the league. In a dominant passing league these days both your safeties need to be able to cover

Does anyone really want Jacksonville's trash?

I'd take Cyprien here. Wouldn't put him above Berry, but Berry was never an option for me.

I'd be happy with any of:

Jefferson

Swearinger

Cyprien

Hyde

Harmon

Church

Lots to like on the FA market for our safety needs.
